Default How-to remove the Cruise Control system

PRODUCT: None - Cruise Control Removal
    APPLICATION: 1996 Honda Accord w. H22 VTEC

    BEFORE ..

    Removal is pretty straight foward.

    1) Remove the strut bar for access to the Cruise contol unit.

    2) Remove the intake by first pulling out the breather hose.

    3) Continue removing the intake by loosening the intake pipe clamp at the throttle body and pulling out the intake system and set it asside.

    4) Remove the cruise control pulley and line from the throttle body by unscrewing two philips screws.

    5) Remove the cruise control line from the cable stay located on the intake manifold by lossening the nut held to the bracket and then sliding out the cable.

    6) Remove the cruise cable clamps from the valve cover (x2).

    7) Remove the EVAP control solenoid and zip tie it the the engine harness on the fire wall.

    8) Remove the vacuum hose from the Intake manifold that runs from the Cruise Control with a Vacuum plug. I used one off another Honda engine.

    9) Unplug the wiring harness from the cruise control unit and tape it up well with electrical tape..

    10) Using a 12" extention with a 10mm socket, remove the 2 cruise control unit mounting bolts.

    11) Pull out the unit and sell it on eBay!

    12) Now for that useless interior Cruise button. Find a very small flat head screw driver and wedge it in the bottom from the Cruise control button. (you will see an indent) .. Use your other hand for leverage .. push up and out on the button.

    13) Unplug the wiring harness, tape up well with electrical tape and stuff it back into the dash.

    14) Replace the cruise button with the Accord DX plate.

And there you have it .. Cruise Control removed ..
