I was wondering, how much of a noticeable effect does the octane of the fuel you use have on the performance of your vehicle. My car is stock right now and I use 89 octane everytime I fill up, now would there be a noticeable difference in performance if I got 91 or 93? Thanks! :D

Also, I heard it isn't good to change the fuel you use very much, like not one week use 89 and the next use 93 and then use 89 again. Cause the ECU adjusts to the new octane for best performance. Is this true?

yea dont constantly change your fuel type. I went from a 87 to 89 couple of months ago and I havent noticed any change at all, maybe you might notice it in 91 or 93 but I'm not sure.

i've prolly posted this b-4 but here it is again. I learned to not put higher grade fuel in my car unless your expieriencing knock or u need a higher grade for a turbo. I'm in college so i use the cheap stuff

yes I read that before but still makes me feel good when I put a little higher fuel in my Accord. I'll stay with 89 for the rest of time I own my car.

YA I think Accord owners should run mid-grade.. Low-grade is for like the 88 Civic DX hatch lol

may make you feel good but i'm sure it doesnt feel too good on your bank account. i just stick with 87 because i'm a broke ass college kid and my f22b2 isn't exactly high performance...yet.

Use the cheap stuff. Your car doesnt have enough compression to require you running 93+ octane. However, if you have bumped your timing up on your car somehow, then you need to run higher octane fuel. If you dont, bad things will happen. Detonation will mess your engine up pretty badly.

2 years running 89 now, nothing but better fuel economy, plus its only 3 bucks more at the end so I'm gonna stay with it

I know premium is a lot more $$$, but your car will thank you in the long run. Lower grade leaves more residue and deposits on you injectors and valves. If you use a higher grade, you will not have to use injector cleaner as often.

if your car is completely stock you may want to use a mid-grade fuel because it does help your mpg. if you have made any changes to your timing, compression, piston/bore size, or experiencingknock then ou want to use a higher grade fuel because of the octane will help prevent and/or reduse knock. but once you start to use a higher grade fuel you dont want to keep switching back and forth, unless you are switching between gasoline fuel at the pump and racing fuel.
