I have a 1997 Honda Accord LX Auto..i dont want to install any of the mods because I'm afraid I might ruin the installation (no mechanical skills)...so i let my friends do it..well anyway..my first mod was an Injen short ram intake...got good throttle respond and torque there...a year later I installed the Cold air extension for the Injen short ram..and added a DC Sport 4-2-1 2 piece ceramic header...didn't felt any torque at low end but got some power in mid range...after a few hunded miles..the engine started to vibrate violently at idle..the check engine light came on..at that time i didnt know what happened so i just started to do some trial and error..what I did was put my car in neutral and rev the car..and behold..the vibration stop and everything was back to normal (or so I thought)...the check engine light is still on so i was suspecting something is wrong with the o2 sensor..didn't look into it much cuz the car drove fine (and i took out the radio fuse to make the engine light go away)..recently i just installed the AEM underdrive pulleys..and this is where my car seem to get worst..good low end respond..but when i hit around 50-60 mph..i can't seem to get good acceleration even though i'm stepping on the gas to the floor...its like good start off then around 50-60 mph i have to floor the gas pedal in order to get to 70mph...i mean..damn..that's worst than before i got my pulley installed..i also replace new NGK regular spark plug and cheap OEM spark wire..and like..it is so hard to get to 100 mph now..i used to go 110 back then before the header. What do you guys suggest I should do? I want to go dyno tuning or whatever..i'm a newbie so can you tell me what dyno tuning really do..well..I have future plan for my car that might help me fix these poor acceleration problem :
future plan:
obd2 to obd1 harness conversion?
modded ecu (Jet)?
weapon R throttle rotor?
5 Zigen catback ($399 at ARDPERFORMANCE.COM)?
fuel filter/fuel rail/fuel regulator?
upgrade spark plug and nology wire?
upgrade ignition?
buy new o2 sensor?
I just want my accord to be like your. Please help..thanks a lot

does your car downshift under heavy accel.? Check your throttle position sensor

i recently installed aem tru power pulleys and they freed up mad horsepower for me. i immediately felt a difference and it actually felt like they added torque. did you get an actual underdrive pulley or the aem tru power pulleys? because aftermarket underdrive pulleys require that you remove a bushing that is aparently critical to engine life.

When I put mine on they freed up a decent amount of hp. I think they are worth it. I am gonna do the crank pulley soon enough, those stock crank pulleys on the accords are mad heavy.

let me know how that works out for ya...i'm kinda sceptical just because i've read replacing them is killer on your engine. but hell i've got a non vtech so i'm lookin for anything thats gonna hook me up with some extra power

hey novtech, what bushing are you talking about?
When i installed my aem underdrive pullies i didn't see any bushings.
Just want to make sure i didn't miss something.

i'm not sure cuz i've never replaced them before. my boy owns his own shop and he was telling me about it. i'm not sure exactly what it was and he may have been talking out of his ass. thanks for lettin me know but i'll go back and ask him to see what the hell he was talkin about.

He might be talking about the harmonic balancer?? I dunno. I helped my boy put a crank pulley from unorthodox and it turned out fine. I have also heard stories about crank pulleys. Let me tell you tho make sure that you have a really really good impact gun or a lift so you can get a breaker bar cause its a biatch to get off.

maybe he was talkin about crank pulley, i dunno i'll figure it out when i finally catch up with him. i've heard underdrive pulleys are a BITCH to change tho, must be nice havin pneumatic tools. guys like myself gotta do it the old fashioned way with some elbo greese or a breaker bar and a bit of persuasion.

So Novtech, you're talking about the pulleys for the a/c, alternator etc. that come in sets of 2 or 3 pulleys? What other mods do you have? I heard that pulleys wouldn't be a good idea if you have a decent stereo as the battery won't charge up properly. Have you found this to be the case? Hit me back cos' I'm looking at these really closely - the underdrive crank pulley can stay there cos' I'm not taking out the engine.

i have a rockford 500a2 and 451s (each pushing over 500 watts) and 2 kicker solobaric S12L5's, 2 guage wiring to a 1 farad cap and distribution block after the cap running 4 guage to the amps...i think because i have the cap i havnt noticed any difference with the aem tru power pulleys causing my altenator to not fully charge my battery. the aem tru power pulleys replace your power steering pump pulley and altenator pulley...its a set of 2. they have been nothing but good for me i think they are a good buy and i'm pretty sure i have more than a descent stereo.
