Hey all, new to this site, and I must say I really like what I see.

Anyway, I was looking at a '99 accord v6 the other day with an automatic transmission and I found that you could slide the stick from d3 to d4 to neutral without engaging the safety button. I was wondering if this was normal for this sort of transmission or not. I've only driven standards as a rule, however, the overall feel of this car is really tempting me to switch over (aside from this concern)

Thanks in advance,
-Steve

yea i have a auto 4cyl and I can do that. The Manual says that you can so it is normal. says you can use the auto as standard without a clutch, its pretty cool I think....

Okay, thanks for the info.

I can see the functionality for the different drive gears, however, I am a bit lost on the reasoning for including the neutral in on this. Is it just so you can rev the engine and then throw it into drive easier? Not that it makes that much difference, but just curious.

i use it mostly when I stop on a red light and the light I usually wait for longer or when i want to stop somewhere for a second without putting the gear into park, i dont suggest that you rev in neutral and put it into drive, this can harm your automatic transmission...
