AEM makes the most power because it brings in the coldest air. Buy an AEM

would there be any benefit to put a K&N filter on an AEM intake?

AEM is the best and they come with a K&N filter on them you will notice a good difference with the AEM intake

i agree aem is awesome, noticed a big difference with my cai from aem, it sounds pretty cool tool, i'm pretty sure the filter it comes with is a k&n except it has aem on the top of the cone, buy one and enjoy the power!

thats what i thought too. didn't the older ones have k&n stamped on it rather than aem?

since this is talking about CAI, I have a question about AEM CAI.

which would be better for performance and tuning?

AEM CAI Standard?

or

AEM CAI Short?

I read some where (i think it was somewhere on the forums) that the standard (longer) CAI gives the engine colder air & more hp. Whats good about this? whats bad?

but...

I also read that the short cai gives the engine more air, but that air that is coming in, isnt as cold as longer CAI, also gives more hp. Whats good and bad about this?

depends where you live...

As far as the last question; colder air is always better from a performance standpoint. The easiest way to explain it is colder air = denser air = takes up less sppace in the cylinder = you can pak more of it in cause there is more room. I guess thats easy right?

I personally dont think it'll matter, but just get a cold air intake (doens't matter which brand) and go buy the engine paint at Autozone and spray the outer of the intake. Thats just baisically what the AEM intake is. It's the paint that makes the air colder and the length of the intake. Filters dont matter, just one that can breathe air is fine, you can use a sock if you dont have one.

Actually its not the paint, it is the length. By sucking the cold air in from outside the engine compartment it will obviously be colder than the air inside the engine compartment. As far as filters go there are high-flow filters which are much better than stock filers. I would recomend a K&N filter, but any filter that comes with a cold air intake will sufice.

I bought one of those cheap ebay intakes and the mounting
bolts did not line up in my engine bay. Also the cheap paper filter
started to disintegrate.
I have an aem cai now. I fits like a glove! Built very sturdy
and i beleive k&n guaranties their filters for life, i think.

thanx for the replies, i think i'll take the advice of most of you and get an AEM.

does anybody have the aem v2 intake installed on their accord? cuz im deciding on buying the standard cai or the v2 but i need peoples opinions if the v2 actually performs better than the standard cai cuz its an extra 75 bucks for the v2. also does an accord cai fit on an h22? or will u have to get a prelude cai?

matts

justin has the v2. a big difference in getting the cai, vs the v2 is that there is no bypass valve for the v2. even if you were able to put a valve on it, it would make it just like the cai, so don't do that. i went with the cai, becuase i needed a bypass valve, because the weather here sucks, and i need to drive my car in all sorts of weather. so if it's not wet, or you don't mind switching to a short ram or something when it's wet, i'd say get the v2.

I just got the v2 and it kicks ass but u cant use bypass valve. It truely will not suck in water unless u submerge it. people think it will suck in water when ever it rains this is wrong. it has to go under water and it takes a pretty deep puddle to do this

matts
03-21-2004, 08:09 PM
yea, if there is ANY air to suck, thats what will go through the intake because its lighter than air, it's only when the filter is completly submerged in water that there will be a problem. the only thing is that just a little water is a huge problem.

OOAccordVTECOO
03-22-2004, 04:09 AM
that is true but even AEM says that you will not be able to suck water in just from rain it has to go under completely

I used to gonna buy a CAI, but I have this considerations:
The filter go all the way down, inside the right fender. It means hard to maintain the filter, cuz if U have a CAI or even a Short Ram, U have to keep the air filter clean. It's lil bit harder to take the filter off (if I wanna clean it) from the CAI than a short RAM. I'm too lazy to do that :D , so I just buy the short ram.

Just wanna let U know. Since AEM bought DC Sports, I think DC Sports gonna discontinue produce their intakes. So, some shop sell em cheap now. I got DAC Short Ram Intake from Option Auto Salon, they put em on clearance. That thing is good (it's not as shorter as AEM's, the air filter position right on the stock airbox position). I think they had tested last year on Import Tuner magz. Its point even beat AEM Short Ram...

matts

the accord cai will fit, the trottle body position matches up. the prelude cai will be different because of the mounts, so stick to the one made for accords.
