first off let me say welcome to the site
second you'll want to start with an intake, header, and exhaust, then upgrade that tranny to an h23 auto tranny, then go for heavier performance mods

heres a few of my favorite sites i buy stuff from
JHPUSA.COM Serving JDM Since 1999 (http://jhpusa.com/catalog/index.php)

not really...if you put 2 stock cars that are exactly the same except one is auto and the other is manual, and race them, the manual will win usually

besides, it's more fun when you can decide when to shift instead of the car doing it for you

but welcome to the forum, stick around and don't be afraid to ask anything

yea but when do ever people serious about racing keep their cars stock.

if you build an automatic it's going to be fast.
stick shift of automatic, someone is always gonna be faster than you.

i was just making a point about manual vs auto, that even on stock cars, manual is better

stock 5 spd will be faster than stock auto
1: you can launch
2: faster accelleration in high speeds
usually the stardard car has 1 more gear that the automatic

dont forget the fact that a manual will get more power to the wheels than an automatic due to their efficiency. this also leads to generally better gas mileage. heres an article from wikipedia, the advantages are vast, while the the disadvantages are slim.
