i need some tips on my stock header. I took my stock header off my old accord today and i want to polish out the inside and im wondering if anyone here has done that before? I also want to make sure it will fit my new accord wich has the v-tech f22 verses my old accord wich has the non v-tech f22. I figure if i polish out the inside of the header i can get a few more horses out of it.

its probly rusted inside out.. cost u more to polish it .. i would just get some DC Sports Header.. and dont mess with the old header cuz its not really worth it.. well to meeh its not .. good luck

The exhaust manifold from the vtec motor will not fit on the nonVtec.. It has different sized ports on it and the bolt patter almost lines up but doesnt. I speak from experience on this, because I bought a new head for my F22B2(nonVtec), and they sent the wrong one that was for the F22B1(vtec). The B1 one has elongated ports that are wider than the ones on the B2.

You could try to port the stock manifold from your application however. I don't think that it would be worth as much as an aftermarket header though either. But you could get noticble gain from porting and polishing the intake manifold though.

A Dremel tool works great for that :)

thanks for that info, cause i was planning on swapping my header from a non v-tech engine to a v-tech engine, i would have done all that for nuthin. Now when u say port and polish are u talkin about the whole inside of the header, or just the inlets on either side? how much gain will i see? and i heard it can cause a engine tick?

I would port and polish the intake manifold and add some dc sports headers or maybe greddy, a high flow cat and a cat back. Then she'd be breathing better.

Exactly. What he said.. Just get a aftermarket header such as DC Sports. And port/polish your entire intake manifold assembly. Take a dremel with a flexible extension tool and load it up with a grinding bit, and take off 1/16" or 1/8" of an inch all the way through (as much possible as you can get to. ;)

Port/Polish would do little to no good for the stock exhaust manifold, because of its' inefficient design.

About the ticking, that's not true. I have done all of this and it doesnt do it.. I mean why would it? You have not touched any of the moving parts.

The noise would be valves that need a slight adjustment perhaps.

You could expect roughly 15-20hp+- I got around 19.

you should only port the intake, not polish, well not to a very smooth surface.....

Right. There should be a slightly rough surface in order to create a turbulent cusion of air around the walls of the manifold. This will allow the air to flow through it faster than what it would being completely smooth. You basically want it to be somewhere around the texture of a piece of light sandpaper.
