Hey all! I'm a new accord owner, but long-time enthusiast of Hondas. I wanted to share a small mod I did to my '91 Dx.

This is a bumber-mounted detector with the LCD mounted in the dash. It's a Whistler brand (I forget the model #).

Photo of the LCD and wiring harness

The LCD came off the circuit board with a little desoldering braid. I wired it to a RadioShack 12-pin molex connector to make it easier to install in the car. The blank "button" in my dash was the pefect size to hold the display after I used the soldering iron to melt out a hole. It's bonded with apoxy.

It is a little messy looking up-close, but overall is pretty kick-ass.

The turn-signal light assembly is removed on both sides. The bulbs are afixed to the bumper (looks cool and gay at the same time :p). I practically doused the case in apoxy to seal out water.

Overall the project was cheap, fun, and effective.

well now the radar only functions forward instead of 360 degrees.

Colt has a good point...but also IMO when you get hit its usally from the front anyways

Yeah I also thought it would loose some reception where it's mounted, but I really don't notice it's any worse.
