i got her fixed recently. after riding around with a fucked up grill and hood i decided to go ahead and fix it myself. the jack ass that reversed into me is hiding out. he'll get his in the long run. but here is some pictures of her now. tell me what you think!

out of curiosity i was wondering if i put a set of 17's with tires, will my ride be dropped more to the ground? i figured that because of the stocks that i have now the tires lift my ride higher. i been looking at a set of 17's and 16's. still don't know which would be better.blah blah

with the 16's or 17"s, it will be a tad lower, because of the thinner side-walls and most of the time when plus sizing wheels, the tires are smaller diameter than the stocks. Ive also noticed when I switched many times between stocks and 17"s, I would have to jack the car a lot higher for the stocks. Which suspension set-up are u running?

this weekend i picked up a set of coil overs from a friend, i'm at school right now and can't remember the name of them. they are gold, i think its nakayama or some shit. they are nice looking though. i'll post pictures before installing them.

i have plans...and mo' plans man. after diapers, wipes, and things for the wife i only have a litle bit of change to spare. i do my best though. any ways like i said i bought this car from a friend. i got it with a h22a swap and it had tokico struts with eichbach springs. this weekend i bought these coil overs from another friend of mine, i really think it's nakayama's or something of that sort. i'm really looking into a exhaust that would suit the h22a good, and some wheels. thinking about replacing the headers. i have dc's on right now.

...umm how do i say this, I BOUGHT THE TEIN SS! the price was cool, installation got it for home boy price ( a case of heineken and some pupus!haha). best part is the LIFETIME warranty. konis were ridiculously priced. the apex wasn't available for my ride and D2 was first on the list. chose to go with the TEIN SS instead. if i don't like'um i can always sell them, seems to be super popular here. don't get me wrong i didn't get them because they are the in-thing, but for the fact of the life time warranty vakas said they offered. gotta wait a week for it to arrive. til then no pics fellas. we'll see how it goes, it might be better than i expect it to be???

E.T.'s= Estimated Time. It means your car runs slower in the 1/4 and everywhere eles. Its more mass for the axle to turn meaning slower rotation. Same reason gas mileage decreases slightly.

yo. haha. I actually traded some jaquar tails + cash w/ fellow ar.com member benn2k for the jet ecu. It matched perfectly w/ my car and his mods were exactly the same. When I called Sonic Motorsports, the guy says he doesn't sell chipped ecu's, but somebody that works there can do it for you, but only obd1. So, yah, go check 'em out. They should hook you up w/ that.

well, at least you got the dampening adjustability paying the extra cash. That's actually what sends most full-coilovers over the $1k mark. Megan, I actually heard, are pretty decent. That company is really climbing up there in the ranks.

i like the black ones, but fucked part is that you would really have to stock up on the tire shine!:hehe:
the grey is pretty too. at least when the tire shine wears off you can still see that they are grey, as to the black ones when it rains your rims will look shiny and tires dull...???
speakin of tire shine, i shined up the car and tried the armor all tire shine gel with the sponge, and it worked good. the ride was all pimped and ready for the birthday bash at the waikiki shell, then it fucken rains! FUCK every time i shine up the ride it rains...oh well. drove it in the rain and it still had a nice gloss to it. so i think i'll stick to armor all for awhile.

bout my ECU i have to put it off for awhile, gonna wait til the teins are on and take them next door to vakas, hypers. not sure if they do it still but a friend of mine said that they used to.

vaka's is cheap! when i checked out sears awhile ago, when i was gonna pick up this set of racing harts-bitches were expensive. can't tell you exactly how much the federals were exactly, but for the price they're good rubbers. i am actually shocked on how good they perform, grippy bitches.

my girlie wants a lifted truck. i had a toyota before. wasn't fucken monsterous but she boogied. sand, mud, rocks and all that shit is the places our cars can't go. and that shit is super fun. second project will be on hold til i can figure out what it is me and my family do. we might be island hopping in a year or so??? unless something super irresistable comes along, like a $100 skyline or something. was think bout getting a lip kit, or i might not. as for installation jus covering the gap. good thing bout coil overs you can allways adjust'um.

just nough to close the gap. gonna let it settle for a bit then adjust it all the way down. and if that draws to much attention then ill set it back to the way it is.

you and a buddy grab under the fenders of one side of the car and lift at the same time, also kicking the arms under the car for the position of lifting. when they lowered it they put wood under the tires so they could remove the arms. glad to see that you are close to completion!:thumbup:

for the drop, Lex Brodies will charge a special alignment for a lowered vehicle which will be around $105. Same goes for most of the other alignment shops. You should wait till you get the height setting you plan on keeping for awhile after 2 or weeks since the adjustment to get it settled. Im not sure if I should do the alignment now or wait till I lower it more with the konis or till I get another full coilover installed. :idunno:

I bought a lifetime alignment from a "Firestone" chain tire store for $80. I have gotten 3 alignments so far off of it - it is paying for itself. I made sure to let them know I intended to lower the car and verified that they would still honor it.
I'm not sure if they have any of these stores on the island, but it is worth looking into.

We got several Firestones, but the one down my side of island doesn't align dropped cars. He kept making excuses that the machine can't adjust it to the factory specs. Ever since we heard the tire defects before, a lot of people stopped going there.

lil update! this just in the new apex neo...with vafc and safc, and the display is colored. spent the whole day at vakas yesterday installing and fuckin with some settings. still not used to the functions but do have a few settings in there that makes a difference. i know you all probably want pics and sound clips...hold your horses i'll get some up as soon as possible. i would recomend this product because it is the shizzle. not cause of the color display but because of the wide variety of functions available. ill get more into detail later, im at school right now...

well for about 3 weeks now my baby has been sitting. my timing belt tore, cam gears lost 2 bolts fuckin up some shit. so i ordered a whole new built head, having her port and polished. we going with some stage 2 goodies like cams and shit. doing the whole fuel thingy, regulator, rail... waiting on that and the new intake mani to arrive. wanted to get ITBS but fuck that shit was getting to expensive. i know im leaving out some more goodies but ill keep you all updated and a vid of the dyno when shes done.

man i miss driving her. hopefully by next week all the shit arrives. out of the $3800 worth of parts the only thing arrive is the throttle body. got me a 73mm. i talked to the guy im getting my shit from and its supposed to be arriving soon. cross them fingers and pray for the parts to arrive soon. thanks!!!!

Hey, did you have any problems clearing the brake booster when putting in your Manifold? We did on mine and was curious if the 4 door engine bay is just as tight as mine.

funny you should ask! it taps the firewall a bit. gotta get a engine tensioner??? but yeah! its pretty tight...

Are you positive its the Firewall? I agree, you can't even squeeze a pinky inbetween the manifold and firewall. However, I suggest looking at your brake booster. Had to uh give the booster an A.A. (Attitude Adjustment) with a rubber mallet. In other words after denting it in slightly the knocking stopped on mine with no loss in braking power, chatter or any other B.S. It still happnes on mine but only when I dump the clutch in first at 3.5K or better. If you don't envy that approach then some Radiator hose cut in two and wedged inbetween will do away with it as well. Unfortunately this always worked itself loose in mine, hence the eventual Booster A.A.

finally installed the MOMO and quick release. ran into a problem with the SPARCO hub. it only had 29 splines when it called for 32. luckily i was able to locate a NRG shorty hub. i had a NRG shorty quick release...found out a shorty hub wont work with a shorty quick release.....so i got me the regular NRG quick release and things worked out fine!

Did you get the factory switch for the front fog lights? It should replace the plastic piece across from the Hazard lights. I moved the Hazards over to the right and put the fog light switch where the Hazards used to be. Just where in the hell does the rear fog light go and where did you get it from?

no i didnt get the OEM switch! fawk!!!!! im hunting for it though! i bought the rear fog of another member on this JDM forum i go on too. its a RAYBRIG rear fog light. usually for civics its mounted into the bumper...but this one just mounts under the bumper. in japan they mount it on the right side, consdering that the driver is on the right side...figured i mount it on the left since i drive on the left and would hate for my exhaust to melt the fuck out of the light.

You're planning boost then? I just don't see how you plan on keeping up with them NA. Should you be planning boost, then the race is on my friend. Though how about we help each other out if we come across some great deals and or suggestions.
I was thinking Maul's new Slugs, Hondata Head Gasket, Skunk2 valvetrain, Hondata S200 or better, and probably a Turbonetic's kit. Deffinetly plan on sticking with a cast manifold, heard far too many horror stories and problems with Tubular. Anyway, good luck.

I appreciate your input but I wish you had looked at my mod list before replying entirely, and perhaps I should have clarified a little better. When I was speaking of Keeping up with the K series NA, I meant in terms of overall power. The K series engine is already seeing the same numbers on pump gas that the best B and H series were seeing on race gas. One company claims to be able to provide you with a 300+HP pump gas K(latest H.T.). Both Chris and I should have no problem "hangning" with almost any Street NA Honda now; but I think Chris has reached the same point I have. I want to abuse them! I'm still trying to understand why you reccomend upgrading the valvetrain; do you mean having it machined? Why would you spend almost 2 times the amount on upgraded valvetrain parts when you can simply switch the cams and get the same thing with better results. With a longer duration of the valves staying open you get more air and fuel with a better HP gain at half the cost and install time.

how are k motors gettin the same numbers on pump gas as b and h? are you talkin N/A or turbo? i assume N/A cause theres pretty much no limit to a turbo.. whipfactory over by my house is building a 300whp k20 for an EJ8 sedan... hes putting $24,000 in the bottom end alone to reach that goal.. god knows how much hes going spend on the top end... the guy whos car it is, is having everything put the block custom built for his set up .. this motor is going to be PERFECT custom crank.. custom bearings.. custom rods.. pistons, rings, cyl walls.... everything is custom... now if you can get 300whp N/A on production parts i dont see why everyones not doing that...
so you could get 300whp N/A out of your H if you spend the money...
also if you go and throw a huge duration cam in your gonna have to upgrad springs and retainers.. upgrading to lighter valves isnt a bad idea either but it wont help alot.. if you want to machine the valves/head do that as well.. just makes flow better.

and yes head work does make a diffrence.. after i ported my head and did a 3angle i gained a good amount...
the reason i always recomend upgrading springs is cause thats where the powers made give it what it wants and it'll give you what you want.... you can get any number you want out of pistons rods springs and retainers with a turbo.. whipfactorys owner has his dd set up like that with 430whp and thats set back.. he could be throwin alot more down if he wanted to but after that number you gotta upgrad other things

I'm not trying to pick a fight honest, but you didn't do your homework. The pistons are the same as the Camshafts; Prelude Type S, not SH. I simply put new factory valve train components back in. I do agree that an upgraded valvetrain could take a beating better, better alloys usually do. However, you can't rev any higher than what a rev limiter is set at. So once again a Camshaft is the better first buy. But the factory valvetrain can also withstand quite alot, I've got several 9K+ pulls on mine.

The K doesn't need near that much money throwin its way to achieve those #'s. A simple purchase of a K24 bottom end and Hondata Kpro and he's well on his way. Throw some ITB's, and fuel system for kicks and we should be somewhere about 12K parts and labor. Sound about right to you K owners?
