Does anyone know if the 96 accord has pressed rotors? Will I be able to change them myself or do i need to have a garage do it?

unless you have a press, youll need to go to a shop. I know for sure the 94-97 have this. Not sure of the other accord years.

yeah if you couldnt get them off after taking the bolts off then they are pressed. the only way to get them off is with a press at a shop. i need to replace one. i was gonna buy the rotor package from the accord store because i live like a mile from it but maybe ill just send it to the shop and have them get everything.

yeah the mechanic told me you do need a press to get them off. which sucks wicked bad cause it cost me a ton to fix my car. $353 for 2 front rotors, new pads, and one new caliper. :(

accords 90-97 have machine pressed rotors really does suck b/c it makes it real hard for us "do it urselfers" without access to all the equipment, i think they're pressed onto the hub assembly or something like that sux paying all that money i have to get new rotors too n i'm not lookin forward to letting go of all that money

yeah im glad its finally fixed. it sucked not being able to go fast for a while. the thing that sucks the most is it took away from the money i was gonna use to buy rims but oh well ill get them another time.

well im jumping for joy right now after reading and hearing what everybody had to say about the subject i still had to try myself and the trick to getting the rotors off is removing the front four bolts first so it loosens the rotor then on back loosen the four bolts half way and then hit on one with a hammer youll notice it will give after a few hits then go to the bolt across from it and hit it the whole bearing will give way and out comes the rotor and all pull the rotor replace and put bearing back in place and slowly bolt it back in place trying to keep it all straight and im pretty sure you can handle it from there im excited now that i dont have to pay express 200 bucks to do it for me later guys

OK attention everybody. 94, 95 honda accord have bolt on rotors, 96,97 are the only two years that they made them press on. I got a 1997 And people, trust me it is a bitch to take them off. When i had my replaced, the shop was knocking it out with a hammer and they fucked up my wheel bearing, and axle. They completely tore off the threads on the axle so I had it replaced. I thought i'll be looking at like 100 dollars labor for both sides, Ended up being 100 for the axle, 80x2 for the bearing, 100 for labor, and a whole bunch of nerves waisted at the shop. I will never go there again. my new rotors ended up being a little costly, I could have gotten a big aem rotor kit instead.

i thought accords 90-97 all had pressed on rotors? it is a pain i spent $232 for 4 crossdrilled brembo rotors, and $440 for new bearings, pads, n labor. it sucked but it was worth it

Is there a way to swap non-pressed rotors on our Accords, maybe from an earlier year? Stupid Honda design. Everything's okay except for the damn rotors. Just because of that reason, i was thinking of buying an 04 TL. I felt kind of sad just going to the Acura dealership.

94 and 95 definitly have pressed on rotors. I had to get some lugnut studs replaced which are 3.00 a piece but it cost me about 150 to have them replaced

A shop is like insurance. If they screw up, they pay to fix it. If you screw up, you pay to fix it. If something goes wrong down the road, you can talk to them about it, whereas if you do it yourself, you become fully responsible for any problems that might occur. Quit being tight wads, lose your pride in "doing it yourself," and get it done right. Yeah, I do most of my own work, but I'm ASE certified in brake repair, engine repair, coolant and heating systems, transmission repair, and suspension repair. Go to school to learn to do it right, or take it to someone that already has.

much agreed i'm not certified, but i do basic stuff my self like tune up (cap, rotor, plug, wires, oil change etc. basics) it sux spending extra money for more involved stuff, but it is worth it, kinda like having a warranty if stuff goes wrong.

90-97 accord have pressed on rotors, to remove the rotor you need to take the axle nuts off get a big slide hammer mount it to the car using the lug nuts and slap the rotor off, some cars are a real bitch and you might need to give it 50 wacks, i know cuz ive seen it done be4 other will come off with one or two wacks. the hub has four bolts holding the rotor to it, remove those and the rotor will separate. to reinstall it is easy place the new rotor under the hub and start the bolts by hand and zip down with a gun im not sure of the tq specs, place the hub back on the car and wiggle it on the axle after you have put sum grease on the shaft... once the axle nut is started make it about 170ftlbs and your good to go. reverse the process for installing all the other braking components
