chrome EX -> black DX window trim ..

I want to replace chrome EX/LX window trim with the black DX trim on a 94-97 4-door. Is this pretty simple? Seems like it might be a bitch on the Coupes.. but what about the sedan?

how about just sanding, taping off, and painting it? it might look pretty cool in like gloss black, or something, depending on the color of the car. it should hold up to the weather ok if you use some sorta clear coat too.

did anyone figure out how to do this? ive been thinking about the taping off and painting but the dx trim might be a better bet.
