1. Loosen lug nuts on rim.
2. Raise car.
3. Completely take off lug nuts and remove tire from axle.
4. Remove both mount bolts (17mm) securing brake calipers from steering knuckle.
5. Remove calipers from rotor and set aside on lower control arm.
6. Remove hub nut (36mm) from axle.
7. Remove 4 bolts (14mm) on hub unit.
8. Turn wheel to extreme left.
9. Push in hub nut screw all the way (the one connected to the CV joint).
10. Remove 2 of the accessible bolts (12mm) from backside of the steering knuckle.
11. Turn wheel to extreme right. Repeat step 10.
12. Pull off rotor and hub unit together by pulling on rotor.

Install is opposite of removal.

When i did mine, i cleaned off the wheel bearing with a rag, sprayed it down with brake cleaner and wiped it down some more. Then I repacked the bearing with grease as well as coating the spline on the CV joint with grease.

My friend and I were reading Haynes and Chiltons for hours when we figured this out. All the stuff in the book about this procedure is crap. This way is much faster and requires much less "breaking" of the car.

Good write up, and yeah I noticed that the haynes can make things a lot more complicated then they really are.

i know right? they wanted me to totally disconnect the entire steering knuckle, tie-end rod, lower control arm, etc. my two friends (ford/chevy guys) who were helping me were like, "i know its an import, but theres gotta be an easier way..." well they were right, and because of them i saved $70. i hope this comes in handy for people. i know there has been a few questions about this recently.

i agree. my friend has a shitload of craftsman tools, and his air ratchet was definately clutch for this task. it broke the torque of everything we threw at it, specifically the hub nut.

lol you must be the luckiest accord owenr to pull off the rotor and hub by hand. i work on cars for a living and ive never seen a accord that you can pull the rotor hub off. i always used a slide hammer and so have my co-workers. but hay to each his own

yeah it was pretty loose actually. i thought only 96-97 were pressed in, and our models were supposed to be like mine.

It sounds simple but after 208K there is no way my hub was coming out! The HAYNES manual is some BS! First my caliper bolts broke off in the caliper. Then i broke 2 breaker bars trying to get off the axel nut. 1600ft lb impact took 3 hard tries to get it off. Bearing assembly would not come out so i took the whole thing to the same shop that took off the axel nut and they said it would be $100 to put it in a jig, press it out then press it back in blah blah ! I laughed at that then went to advanceautoparts got a loaner slide hammer for $100. Three good whacks and it came out. Packed it good with axel grease and put it all back together. Three more good whacks and it was back in. I have toucan slotted and drilled rotors, EBC green pads, gravity bled the entire system, junkyard caliper, and it stops on a dime now.
