Hey guys.....BOTH CV joints went out on my car.....I can't stand the clicking noise on the turns anymore....I went out the other night and bought 2 new front axles....according to the Haynes repair manual....it doesn't look too difficult to replace them....just kind of time consuming....wondering if any of ya'll replaced your own axles...and if ya have any tips that would be helpful...It's a 95 'cord 4 door w/o abs...Anything would be helpful..

I get a knocking noise from mine too when i turn right...usually only through second gear cornering though.

Your gonna have to get a 24mm socket for the spindle nut, remember to raise the locking tab on the spindle nut, then remove the nut. Also you'll need a breaker bar as well. If the breaker bar isn't enough then you can get a metal pipe and put it over the bar. I had to do it with the drivers side axle. Damn near had to stand on the bar to break the seal. I got my axle's from Autozone and they fit cool.

Thanks Rican...will grab that tommorow after work...have the breaker bar...sounds like a fun project :idunno:
Shimn, that's exactly how mine started....check out your cv boots.....mine are both ripped and the grease is all gone.

Yeah if that car has never had its axels replaced before then its gonna be a bitch and a half to get that thing off. Trying spraying some WD-40 on and inside the nut before going at it.

Yeah the hub nuts and be a real pain in the ass, if you don't have the right kind of tools. I had to basically stand on the breaker bar with another breaker bar wedged in between two of the wheel studs.
