I have a 97 accord EX V6 and I just bought some 18" rims. I want to lower my car. I wanted to put coilovers (skunk2 or ground control) on it but I heard that I shouldn't put coilovers on my car because the engine is heavier and it might mess them up, and that I should go with springs. Is this true? Help!!! :D

you can do either, but with both, make sure that you get the stuff for the V6 model. as expected, the motor is much heavier, and so honda put different shocks and springs on the front end. aftermarket companies also make different springs for the V6 model. so as long as you get what is meant to go on your car, you'll be ok with either.

What would you recommend? I was thinking either Eibach springs, or Skunk2 or ground control coil overs which i hear are pretty much top of the line

skunk2 doesn't make coilovers for the v6 model. ground control uses eibach springs, so it comes down to whether you want coilovers, or springs. personally i like springs over coilovers because of the ride quality, but with 18's you might want to be able to fine tune the ride height. the only thing i would plan on not doing is adjusting the coilovers often. this will throw off your allignment, and eat your tires.

I only want to lower it enough so it doesn't leave that much of a gap. Maybe 1-1.5" so i guess i should probably stick to the springs. Thanx for the help.

I prefer springs. There's no problem If U live here at Cali (cept those speedbumps and potholes :D ), but if U have snow or U think U want to be able to adjust your car's height (i.e: for that kinda seasons/weather or for the show), go with that adjustable coilover. All I know is some people adjust their rides taller when snow comes. Dunno... no snow in my area... :)

actually there's snow at mountain... (winter only)...
30 minutes drive from my house.. If you're lucky (bright and sunny day), U don't have to put the chain to go up... I did it with my civic once... :)
