I don't know bout U guys, my undercar always scratched. It only lowered 1.5" rear and 1.75" front. And I'm using 15" rims with 195/60/R15 tires. It's only 1.5 months old since I lowered my car, but I already screwed my front bumper up. Do U guys think if I put my 18" rims will make the car a lil bit higher? I plan to put 215/40/R18 tires (still saving money for the tires)

yea, what do you have? eibach springs on stock shocks? the bigger wheels and smaller tires will actually not raise the car at all. you pretty much just have to drive more carefully. do you have an aftermarket front bumper, or lip kit? if so, i hope it's urethane, not fiberglass. if not, you might want to think about keeping it that way.

For now I have H&R springs, Tokico HP Shocks, and stock bumpers (installed). Also have 18"s rims, mugen lip and they're not installed yet.

with your car only lowered 1.5"s that is weired that you are hitting.. oh wait i just reread your post, an you said that you got tokikos on there as well.. so your car is actualy sitting around 2.5" then.. (cause the tokikos have that lower cradel on them making the car sit around another inch lower)... if i were you i would learn to be very careful around bumps an curbs... (if you dont do it already, drive sideways kinda sorta)... it will help eas the pain of heareing your babie hit like that..heheheheh... as for the lip i say put it on.. you are going to hit an scrap it regardless.... an like matts said, no it will not rais your car anything.. it will still sit where it lays now... good luck

take it from me my car is low enough that when i go over a speed bump, i have to hear it scrap from the front bumper to just about the back seats.. then i dont hear it hitting anymore.. (an when i say scraping, i mean it) you should see my underbody...sh!!!!!tttyyyyy.hehe

the only thing you can really do is drive carefully. Less you invest in airride suspension. Even with bigger rims you will have to be more weary of crap holes in the road. Im sure you know 18"s are not cheap. But then you can go drifter style and get missmatch rims.
I had my car slammed to the ground with the teins when I had them. I honesty will say even though I had 2 to 3" between the ground and the front bumper(if even that) I never had that many problems. Speed bumps were not cool, my chassisliked to kiss those. Then pot holes, you just have to avoid them as best you can.. and hope someone dosnt call you in thinking your DUI.

speaking of breathalizers... I was at lunch today with some people in my dorm, and they were arguing with each other because one kid blew a higher blood alky level than the other.. Im looking at them confused.. well they bought a breathalizer just to see who could get the most drunk.
And here I am confused why I cant get myself to drink alchol anymore. Thats another story.

heheh... if you pass the breathalyzer what more bitching has he got to do?
um well he made me count backwrds from 50, an he tried to make me say the alphabet backwards as well...heheh when he pulled that one, i asked him what the alphabet was....he did not like that one.. the other ones they like to use are the one where you gotta touch your finger to your nose with your eyes shut... (an as a twist they will sometimes make you ballance on one foot) an they will make you stand on one foot an stare straight at the sky.... oh ya the best one is wal in a straigh line...

an after all that is done, then they try an make you think that you robbed a store or something to try an get you to sweat about something that you never did in the first place.. yes as you can tell we here have alot of power struckin cops on are hands... you know the kind that try an tell you that they have 12 years experiance at the job, yet they only been doing it for a year or two..lol..fuckin rooks..

my 17s are slightly larger than my stock tires....so i would think 18s woud lift it slightly...depending on the size tire u get...i like a bit more rubber than usual tho cuz it smoother and safer on the rim....

since lowering my car my attention priorities have changed to
1) watching for potholes/dips
2) watching out for other idiots
3) normal "attentive" driving
and when i live at the beach during the summers....its changed too...
1) watching for potholes/dips
2) watching for girls
3) looking for nice cars
4) watching for idiots
5) normal "attentive" driving

and for all the police out there...it will brighten ur spirits if u watch Super Troopers at least twice....even now i still hate them but...now its easier to laugh at them

i just thought of this earlyer today.. i let one of my freinds drive my car the other day.(i was not in the car) an he got pulled over in it... he was doing absolutly nothing when he got pulled over.. first thing out of the cops mouth was did you steal this car... (what the hell is that right there) profiling to the max..<~~~ ... then he says that he must have stollen the car, cause he only sees a white guy driving it..(witch would aperently be me hes talking aobut).. an instead of even trying to run the plates an see if it is stollen, he threatins to just hall him off to jail instead for no reason at all...

in a way, that is cool beacuse the cop noticed something different there..(this being that the guy that normaly drives the car,(me) was not in the car)... but in a twist a bad thing, (cause this means that they are watching me closly enough to spot out my car out of 20 other cars..(an to know that my freind was not the driver they always see)... so there for my signature stands at monsters are officers.. cause they are very unpredictable...

thats kinda strange. I personally would look at that in a good way... it means that the cops know you and probably respect you and your car. That's a GOOD thing, cuz it probably means they will let more stuff slide.. As soon as I get my car going, I am going to get a rappore going with ALL of the cops in my county (there are like 5 I think)... that way I will be much safer from getting say... a ticket for over-tinted windows, or a tinted license plate cover, or improper signaling, or other bullshit tickets that are just out there in case the cop is having a bad day.

A friend in a cop is a good friend to have. I am already in a position that is good, cuz' I help my mom at a community center (that we started), and the center is going to start housing a police substation (there has been a lot of vandalism at the center) and so on... my mom got out of a DUI ticket a few months ago because she mentioned she was president of the center and the cop was like, oh sorry to bother you ma'am and walked away... she didn't even have to blow a breathaliyzer. (She wasn't drunk, she just was tired at about 12:30am and swerving all over the road) but that shows how good it is to know cops.

jdmaccordbo!916

i dont know if they still do it or not, but it used to be a sticker that the family of the officer would put on there license or something like that...(kind of like that stupid donation sticker).. but when you get pulled over for something stupid, an they see that then it helps lessin the ticket sometimes getting you out of it in all... im going to try an get ahold of him though an find out if they still do that... :D <~~~ that is what ill be doing when i get out of a ticket for speeding .. smiling from ear to ear...hehheh

What your really supposed to do is this
johhny law sirens you over...
before he can say anything to you...
"Officer, I bet your going to sell me tickets to one of your balls"
pig"Sir/mam us highway patrol dont have balls"
pig pauses..... looks around sorta funny...
then just walks away and lets you go...

maybe it will work...

Hmmm.. so it caused by the Tokicos. I don't know bout it before. My choice is gonna buy Bilstein Shocks, but my budget went to the Tokicos :D So, what the hell... I have to drive more carefully... Hopefully, I got my tires this week. Had good tires deal.... :D

Air ride is cool, but personally I don't like em (and damn expensive too..)

jdmaccordbo!916
12-09-2003, 02:55 PM
ya bags are tight, if it is on a truck not a car... uspeacialy if you are trying to make your car fast.. cause you cant do that with bags.. drive fast= replacing every bag the first bump you hit... good for show purpose though..

Carreragt2e
12-09-2003, 03:05 PM
not ture about the bags.. Your right about the show bags where its just for rasin and lowering the car, but they work at the track to if you really need to lower it for working on traction...

But what I mean by not true is that a company named praxis is currently making an airride tech for the track. Im talkin auto cross.. They only have it made for the WRX's so far but they are making more. Costs around 3695,, but its the perfect way to corner balance your ride and having to mess with the fricken ride hite ... plus when the cop pulls you over for having the car to low you hit the switch and be like what lowered car officer??? heres the link for more info towards praxis http://www.praxissystems.com
There is a 2 page article in the new super street.

Also, there are plenty of cars out there with air ride suspension.. factory. Audio, VW, just to name a few. I know they use it on there SUV's. Its usually not as sever as a full airride setup, but its the same thing. I know some cadilacs have air ride too, along with Mercedes. I remember my auto tec teacher telling us we had to replace some shocks on a Mercedes because the owner thought the ride was bad. WE get the car up in the air and Im just like o sweet this cars on bags, with the teacher saying shit guess were not replacing those here. Dont know why he didnt let us butcher the deans car...

peace

jdmaccordbo!916
12-09-2003, 03:18 PM
but are there not two different kinds of aire ride suspension ??.. there are the ones found in alot of the older cars an the newer ones, such as cadilacs an such like you stated.. those are the ones that have the air shocks that can adjust themselfs to the rides weight an things like that.. an then there are the air bags themselfs... the ones that makes your ride sound like it just quiefed (pppfffffffff) i hate hearing that shit.. uspeacilay knowing that they are doing it to show off... lol...what it realy says is hey come steel me... im the idiot bouncing infront of cops... lol...

im asking casue when i was working at good year we always had to open the trunks an release the system to the shocks sot hat we would not pop them when we would rays the cars up on the lifts... i dunno... just wondering..

takezo
12-09-2003, 03:18 PM
I know Praxis is made for performance. But mine's is daily grind -> hell 3650, i can get an EK hatch :D I'm talkin bout the common air rides. Those bags are for poser...

12-09-2003, 03:32 PM
Yeah, I loved the kid who had the airride on his civic.. he put probally 10grand into the car.. well it wasnt fast.. it just looked cool. He had the airbags, well he ripped proablly 4 bumpers off this past summer. And one time he was at my work trying to show off, he kept bouchin the car in the front.(to the extent you can with air ride) and he bent one of his qtr panels off. That was a good laugh.

Once I saw a lowrider truck on the freeway, and I think he broke his airbags. So it's just like 1" from the ground, it's like he drag the truck body all the way along the freeway. That so stupid...

TheFirstNutZo
12-09-2003, 09:27 PM
yeah, after a certain point it is just too low... period.. I wouldn't mind some lifts though, hydraulic would be tight just some hydraulic lifts with a big compressor it would be tight and would never pop or go bad really.

jdmaccordbo!916
12-09-2003, 11:50 PM
ya well if i were ever to do hydros on my car i would go no bigger than 6" stroker's all the way around... that way it would realy only look stock hight when it was lifted up all the way.. an a single pump would not even take up that much room in your trunk at all... the only thing with hydros that you realy gotta worry about is the fluid lines breaking, but they are starting to use titanium lines now so it helps with that problem... an also if you are out fuckin around an using it to hop insane amounts, then you also take the risk of the dumps catching fire.. but that would be what you call going out in a blaze of glory...heheh

TheFirstNutZo
12-10-2003, 11:46 AM
yeah I would want to be able to go up and down, and I probably wouldn't want to be goign down more than 3-4" so I'd probably get like 6-8" movement... so I could go up 4 and down 4 that'd be just about right. I wouldn't do any of that hopping bullshit, I'd just want it so that I could be with peace of mind in the county with ruts, potholes, and ditches everywhere... and low and pretty where its smooth :) or when parked.

jdmaccordbo!916
12-10-2003, 12:15 PM
oh an i forgot to metion the ride in a car with hydros sucks.. it is like driving a car with blown shocks.. realy bouncy at least it was in my freinds 66 but he had 12" in the rear an 10" in hte front.. now that car was one bad ass car.. hehehe it had a fully built 350 with gear drive, an when the front was dumped to the ground an the rear raised you could be at a stop an floor it, it would seriously get at least a foot off the ground just from pushin the gas down hard... but the ride was bouncy as hell... but at least the car was fast as hell.. it lost the cops on a high speed chase when it was stollen... so you know it had to have been fast..

TheFirstNutZo
12-10-2003, 01:14 PM
yeah well if I did it, it'd be hydraulics hooked up to struts/shocks so that it went up and down but still had a shock absorbing suspension. Crown Vic's arent that fast but its still sweet to get away from 'em :)

yeah honda is kinda going downhill now that they are trying to look, act, and be domestic-like. They are losing their market for being compact import sedans, in hopes of taking domestic market.. and they may well get domestic, but I'm not going to buy one of those 2004 boats, those things are wayyy too damn big.
