anyone seen any big brake kits (rotors and calipers) for both front and back, probably ex only? both aem and brembo have kits but they say for front only.

hmm well brembo does have the gran turismo set, but thats 3k, would it matter for front and back if theyre both disc?

i think so. unless you do some serious master cylinder work, your front and rear braking power would be equal. your front should be fairly stronger than the rear. most race cars use smaller rotors in the rear to accomplish this.

makes sense

There really isnt to much need for bigger brakes in the rears. look at any high hp sports car. youll always find smaller ones in the back. Im sure a big break kit in the front then just upgraded rotors and pads in the rear would get the job done. Though I do understand the concept of why having equal breaking power all around would do good... but you always gotta remember why the brakes are bigger in the front.. you hit the brakes, all the weight transfers forward.
besides, your tires are your "real" breaks, the breaks are just things to transfer heat. Thats one of those calling gas for your car gas,, and not fuel...
peace.

As far as the Accord goes you usually don't see rear big brake kits that often. Cross drilled rotors, high-perf. pads and some paint on the calipers usually does the trick.

ya i got the EBC slotted an cross drilled rotors, with stock calipers painted rally red, with raybestos ceramic pads.. an i think it is alot better then stock thats for sure.. an the pads that i got on there are supposed to cut the brake dust down by 80% they said... well i think i belive that now.. ive had them for 6 months now, an i have only realy got down an cleaned the rims maybe three times since then...

would aem upgraded calipers fit over stock size rotors?

I wish AEM would make a complete brake set for the Accord. Not only do they obviously imporve braking, but I think their brake set-ups look really nice. Having a complete AEM brake package looks so clean to me. I was heavily looking into brake packages a few months ago, but because nobody really makes a complete package for it I was really turned off. Oh well.....

Precision Brake Company out of Ashland, OR will put together a tight Wilwood Kit both front and rear. Everything included from massive and beefy rotors, to wilwood calipers, to lines, and adapter mounts...

Another question, If I wanna put big rotors, can they go with the stock calipers (directly bolt on) without anything modified ?

matts
12-17-2003, 06:17 PM
no, you'll need at least a bracket that relocates the caliper farther out from the center. aem's kit uses the stock calipers, and bigger rotors by using a bracket.

ok ic... so that's mean our oem calipers are tough enough huh

Here are the prices for the Brembo kit from precision brakes company:

B111.6011AAccord 90-9717 "12.9”328 mm$2,395

and for the wilwood:

The front kit includes a 2-piece 13 " drilled and slotted rotors, Wilwood Forged Dynalite 4-piston calipers, Wilwood Polymatrix 'D' Compound performance brake pads, caliper mounting brackets, stainless steel braided flexible brake hoses, mounting hardware and instructions. This kit sells for $1289.00

Here's what he told me about the rear in an email:

Now in order to figure out your rear brakes, the options are wide open, best bet, you find a rear axle to swap, tell us what year and model it is, then we create a rotor only upgrade for that rear end, that includes mounting brackets to move the caliper to fit the bigger rotor. this rear package would be about $699-$799.
__________________________

But wht i figure about the rear is if they can build me a kit to adapt the stock caliper to accomodate the larger rotor, then finind an aftermarket caliper to mate with it would be no sweat at all. This last part has been all for Wilwood equipment. As for the Brembo: There is no question about the integrity of the Brembo kit, the only problem i have is that it brakes the bank (no pun intended).for the front we're talking about an extra $1000 for the brembo's. But i have to say, everything about them is bigger. The rotors are just rediculous, they are so thick there is no way in hell you are going to crack those things. It reminds me a little of the APR front strut tower bar...BEEFY AS HELL...

Ive seen dual calipers on cars befor. The saleen S7 has 2 in the rear. I think one controls the Ebrake and it is significantly smaller than the mail caliper. I sorta think that because of the size of the rotor, they can get away with added braking force. But since it is a rich persons car its probally for flying or something or adding the 30" rims to the ride
