Yo,
I just recently bought a '94 accord lx with 144k miles for really cheap, just to have something to do. Only have a few problems with it:

ABS - The abs is fine at startup, and for about a block of driving after start. After a block or so though the ABS light clicks on, and I can hear a click sound coming from what seems like the abs motor, and the ABS no longer works (I think), and I'm stuck with regular breaks. I looked at the abs fuse box and everything looks ok, except maybe for a little corrosion (doesnt look like enough to effect it)

Breaks - I'm pretty sure this is a break pad problem, but i figured i would throw it in anyway. Whenever I stop sometimes I can hear a really faint squaling sound. This usually happens when I come to a slow stop and used to only happen when the brakes were wet but now does it all the time (except for recently it has stopped for some reason). Also, when I come to a fast stop, my steering wheel shakes pretty hard unless I ease off a little which isnt always possible so i need it fixed.

On another topic, I saw a friend's CRX today and noticed he had some kind of funky ass setup where his windshield whiper fluid tubes were running to his carbeurator (I think thats what it was running to). he said he emptied his windsheild whiper fluid and put in some kind of fuel liquid into it, not too sure what it was but he said something about it having alcohol or something... i dunno... but he said he pushes his windshield whiper fluid button and it boosts his car lol. anybody heard of this before?

yea, it sounds like the pads need to be replaced. the shaking sounds like it might be from your rotors, having them cut will fix it.

if it's really getting to you take the calipers off, and check between the pad and the seat. there should be a good amount of this silvery goo stuff. if there isn't thats where a lot of new pad squeaking comes from.

Thanks for the replies guys. How exactly do I go about taking the calipers off? Where can I get to them at? I'm not sure if I have new pads, or really old pads, and that's why it's making the sound.

Also -- anyone have any comments on the ABS or my friend's CRX setup? I'm really curious about it, he's offering to hook mine up and I dont want to fuck my engine up or something. Thanks :)

if you take the wheel off you'll be able to see the calipers well. the first thing i would look at is the thickness of the break pad. new, they come with about a quarter inch of pad, plus the thickness of the backing, you should be able to tell the pad from the backing fairly easily. on one side of the pad there should be a little metal tab that sticks out toward the rotor, if that tab is hitting the rotor, it will make a squealing sound, indicating that you need new pads. if neither of those things are the problem, you'll probably need to take it to a shop, unless you have access, and help to compress the caliper once you take it off.
