Ok I've got a problem. I was out racing around tonight and this Civic hatch pulls up and wants to race. I smoke him but then my car hit its top speed (like 120mph) but his kept on goin prolly to about 140 or so. Is there anyway to remove the speed regulator or raise the speed at which the fuel cuts off? Thanks

hondata or a chipped ecu will get around that.
I have a 97 LX that tops out at 115.
I figure im very seldomly going that fast so im going to leave it.

i got the same problem you do. the car cuts me off at 115mph, so i'm going to re-program the computer to take off the speed limiter and also the rev limiter.
Also somebody told that the venom 400 might take care of that problem, but i'm not sure about that one.
if you solve the problem let me know how.

the h22 cut off at 120? thats not right... ive gotten past 120 before on stock ecu, you def need hondata

Well, the Venom 400 doesn't help out with the top speed limiter or rev limiter in this case unfortunately.. I have one and can say that I have tried it.. It does add assloads of torque though!

If you want to see how fast the car will go, I know a way to do it, but you have to be on a dyno.

Basically, you unplug the speed sensor on the tranny, of course this will make you lose your speedometer, but you also lose the top speed limiter!! -Hence, the reasoning for being on a dyno. :)

Yep, definitely get hondata chip or jet ecu upgrade. cuz your car is very limited. Did u say u had h22 motor? should not happen. I have a 97 accord ex and it topped out at 130mph.

130?!?!! WTF!? I have a 97 LX and it tops out at about 120..

What is the deal with all this inconsistency nonsense with top speed limiters?

I have gotton my accord to 130 before with no sign of topping out it is weird that your does that. I can easily get up to 110-115 range and still go further.

OMG.. Well, the only thing I can think of is that your car has a OBD1 computer, and that may be the reasoning behind it..

I hear that on OBD1 comp. you can actually advance the timing manually, and the computer won't correct itself like an OBDII will.

Very interesting. well, enjoy the speed.

-My car will easily get there too, it's just when it does hit 118 or 120, whichever it is, it just like hits a wall and shuts down. :(

Ii know how to get around it, but I would lose my speedo, do that will only be a dyno thing to actual top speed.

1994-1996 EX Top speed 130
1997-1998 EX Top speed 130 , LX DX Top Speed 115

I got the same problem, I want that limiter OUT!!! Where is the speed sensor located again??? I'm unpluging that crap out with the next oil change... I heard that it will stop your odometer too!

Where is the speed sensor located? and what is it look like on a 1997 LX manual tranny???

The speed sensor is located on the tranny.. Unplugging it will make you lose your speedometer and consequently your odometer too, theoretically.

LX - DX Accords Speed limiter is usually around 115 mph. The Accord EX - SE can be pushed as far up to 140 mph. I have seen it done with a stock accord.
