What kind of gasoline does your Accord drink?

I used to feed her Regular Unleaded - Til a younger neighbor I was driving home yelled at me at the gas station for putting shit in my car. Made me stop and think - If he's yelling at me about it, maybe I should reconcider. After that I put 93 (Ultimate) in my car, but that was expensive, so now she drinks 89 (Super) until I either start driving less or make more money :D ha...

I still do it, I mean the manual says 86 or higher, so if 87 is good, 89 is better in my opinion

honda makes some of the most efficient engines in the world, and they are designed to run on a low octane gasoline. however, as the car gets older, it becomes prone to knocking.( this occurs when the compressed mixture of gasoline and air in the cylinder combusts before the spark plug ignites, due to the lowered combustion point of the mixture which is caused mainly from a low octane rating. you can here this in older honda's if you run low grade gasoline and romp on the pedal, you should be able to hear a pinging from under the hood). running gasoline that has a higher octane rating will correct this. by running a higher grade of fuel, (89 should be sufficient) you raise the combustion temperature of the fuel air mixture, which makes it less succeptable to pre-detonation. i used to have a 92 accord and had this problem, i switched to 93 octane and it corrected the problem immediately. i now have a 2000 LX and still run 93 to keep the fuel components clean. (higher grades of gasoline burn hotter and tend to have less impurities in them, a few more dollars at the pump will mean a few hundred saved in the long run.

I have solved the ellusive riddle for what is BY FAR the best gasoline for our engines...The J30's anyway....
I used to always use 89 octane 76 gasoline....thought it was good for me and my ride...would normally get 225-230 miles on the tank....then I had some regular scheduled maintence done @ 100k miles, and they bored out some valve (it's late, if you want, i'll look it up later on another thread) and then I would get 240 per tank. And I thought 'damn that's awesome.' And then I tried shell
Holy shit! SHELL SHELL SHELL SHELL rocked my world. No joke guys...after consistently putting 76 in my car for over a year, I will never put it in over shell again. With shell, my power went up noticeably....I'm not lying...I can feel the car respond better..."What about gas mileage?" you say? hmm...well that's the best part. 280 miles per tank now. Holy cow...what a difference!
The bottom line USE SHELL AND ONLY SHELL <I use 89 octane, might try 91 for shits and giggles>
SHELL FOR LIFE!
