Okay, so some of you veterans will remeber the problem i had awhile ago with my car revving up to like 2500 then dropping back down with out me doing anything?! Well Now i have another idle problem and it's a little different.

This time when i start the car it just starts up and stays at 3000-3100 RPM until it warms up (like 15 mins usually) then it drops back down to around 2000 RPM. If i just start it and take off whenever i put the clutch in the idle goes back up to 3100 or so until i reach a complete stop, at which point it drops back down. It's nothing basic like the throttle body sticking or a cable being too tight on the throttle. It's either a vaccuum leak or some sort of Idle sensor that has gone wild. I'm inclined to go with the ladder, but i'm not sure. Ahhh this pisses me off cause the intake is pretty loud so when i put the clutch in and roll up to a stop light i always get dirty looks from people like "does this kid wanna race or what?!" It's fucking annoying. Any help would be great guys, thanks.

is ther esuch thing as a throttle position sensor on our cars? or did i hear it has to do with the map sensor, could be reading too much air and increasing the fuel accordingly causing an increase in idle. also could cause intermitten problems. you may also have your injectors checked with the light testors......plug them in and make sure they fire correctly.

Fuel delivery is not an issue, cause the car has the same power it used too when i smash the throttle down there is no hesitation or studdering. It's gotta be something that bolts to the intake manifold, either bolting or a vacuum line that has busted, but like i said before, i think it's a sensor...

yea thats why i was thinking that a sensor such as the map may be sending extra fuel thinking that the tb is open when it really isnt......ya know the map sending bad info. just brainstorming about the injectors. oh, now that i think about it how is your vaccume line to the fuel pressure regulator? i dont think it would make it rev to 3k but it would increase your idle. and besides if it was a vac line leaking you would hear it, i dont see why it would be clogged though.

high idle on start up is almost always due to cold weather - mine does the same thing when I start it in the morning - it jumps to 2500 and stays there until I shift into gear...so I ignore it.

Weather is not a factor, the problem persists if it's warm or cold. C'mon guys, i know there's more info out there with the members here!?!

i remember reading someone had a high idle problem, and it had something to do with their idle air control valve?
