:hmm: Im thinking of getting turbo and running 8 to 10 pounds of boost. The problem is i have 110,000 miles on my motor. I dont want a H22 anymore and i was thinking of getting new rods and low compression pistons. what else do i need to do? :hmm:

that engine with only 100K on it, you should be fine running 8 daily and 10 on weekends. I am going to be running 8 daily on 9:1 compression.

But to answer your question, forged pistons, rods, thicker head gasket, sleeves, and I would do new bearings and seals all around. And a compression test.

You think with 110k its fine to to run turbo

5500...wow. well when you have the cash lol to spend...

sleeves, rods, pistons, valves, lifters, springs, rings...umm that should cover you. bulletproof that engine before you put any boost into it. first things first, run a compression test before you buy anything, you can get a testor for 30 bucks at an auto parts store, its easy and only takes an hour or so.

5500? I wish I had that much money to drop in my engine. Hell, you should have the engine cryo treated if your dropping that much into it. 12s or low 13s.... you shouldn't be worried in how to bulletproof the engine as to how to get the power to the ground. You should think about lsd, tranny, clutch, axles, tires and such.

$5500 isn't that much money to spend that shit adds up a lot quicker than you think. Along with all those internals your going to want to get some fuel and ignition upgrades then better tire then :damnit: it just keeps going. Cars are the biggest money pigs especially if your an enthusiats god damn.

Uhhhh, my sig says I'm about to turbo. I know exacltly what is involved, and I am paying no where near that. I also have extras I bought like a wideband o2 sensor($287), moates chip burner($91), and a laptop($730) that I had to get to help me run my setup. I think my engine swap + turbo will be around $3000. Of course over the summer I will be upgrading a lot of parts and then I will be dumping a lot of money into it.

haha, mines ghetto. But its cool, I plan on upgrading the parts(tubular manifold, big 16g, internals, Intake mani) this summer when I have more money. And yeah, Please price everything out. You are getting ripped of somewhere or are buying stuff you don't need.

Theres my setup. I've gotten a few more goodies for my car since then, but essentially that's it. I'm excluding the cost of the laptop I have to buy, because I also need it for college, but I need it for datalogging as well.

look at the post above yours. I showed you my setup, it's not brand new, but I have everything you have but cheaper. And did you get a t25? My setup is to start me off, then I will upgrade as I go along.

All those dynos you saw were from used parts. And yeah, I'm picky too, so I am gonna upgrade everything this summer, this is only to get me started.

allmotor honestly you dont know what you're talking about with prices...turbo kits are overpriced, you can get all brand new parts and still have it cost cheaper than 3500 from greedy..i mean greddy...

its called searching, ebay, craigslist, sale forums, you can find deals everywhere it just takes time to put into searching for it.

if all you want is brand new parts thats fine but you will get the same performance for cheaper by buying a few used parts here and there. i built a factory rebuilt garrett, just as good as brand new one for 300, a brand new one will cost you 600-700.

read read read cuz there is a lot of info out there and a lot of deals to be had it just takes some time to find it all

lol every thing is over priced yes i know but when it comes to parts like turbos and all the moving parts im not gunna go with a cheap ass set up like a $1500 set up witch includes wvery thing? haha ya rite you go ahead and blow your motor because you used an old turbo that might have a flaw. and i spend a lot of time pricing thing because i cant afford any of the shit i want i been in the sceen for while and for the most part you get what you pay for!!!!!!!!!!!
