View Full Version : a small Hyena laugh on my suspension

It seems like there's been a weird noise coming from my suspension. It sounds like a faint Hyena voice whenever I drive slow and when I go through a bumpy street (i hear it more when i drive slow). Supposedly the Honda Dealer lubed my suspension, but I keep hearing this sound. Could it be my bushings, my struts, or springs?

My car is doing the exact same thing.
I suspected the bushings too.
I think they just get dried out in cold weather and need to be greased up,
I Hope!

Interesting.... well, E.S. kit, here I come.. but before i jump into conclusions, I hope someone knows exactly what's wrong with it. I just want to squeeze out every atom of life my stock bushings have.

damn yall i must be hard of hearing or my car is loud as hell. maybe its because my stereo is on full blast except for when my daughter is in and she screams at the top of her lungs for the whole trip cause all you can hear in my car is road noise and wind. i dont think i had ever imagined a time in my cars lifetime that i could have said i heard any FAINT sounds comming from it. faint hyena? you sure there isnt an animal in your trunk?.........................................

Trunk?! What Trunk. MY TRUNK DOOR IS GONE! If you read in the exterior thread under "Bent trunk door" i explained what happened to my trunk. This noise is coming from my suspension. It squeaks mildly (takes me back to my camaro years). I want the squeaking to stop before i mess something up.

is your suspension stock or have you modified it? if you get your car jacked up take the front wheels off and take a look around. check your bushings for cracks ect. Even look around your struts and springs. I believe the front coils rest right ontop of the strut, no rubber between them. if they are old there is a possibilty that they rubb and make your sqeaking noise.

Even befor you jack the car up and take the wheels off, try bouncing the car. Just push down near one of the front wheels. Squeaks are annoying because they are hit or miss. Last car that I worked on that had a sqeak was a 88 honda accord. The sqeak was from the front right area, but after jacking the car up, lubing everything down, nothing happend, but then I looked at the other side and noticed that his spring was rusted in two parts, but that side wasnt making any noise. Turned out he needed his struts replaced, they were leaking oil anyhow, guy chose to just leave it be.

When my 94 had a sqeak it was the endlink bushings that were gone.

Thanks man. I did what you told me and there was that squeaky noise again, but it was kind of hard to duplicate the volume of it, but i heard it. It seems that my front struts are almost gone and my springs are a little rusted. And yes, my 4 door 97 Accord SE's suspensions is stock. So i'm thinking of buying better springs and shocks. I also bought some RH C5 rims (cost a shit load) and a new ES bushing kit for $140, so i'm going to install them while i'm at it. I really don't want to drop my ride, but everyone says that it'll look weird if i don't. I'm also thinking of buying a sillen lip kit or something similar. Anyways enough babbling, what kind of Springs should i buy? I hardly want to feel the bumps on the road. I want it to feel like a Mercedez or some kind of lux car. Does anyone recommend what struts/shocks, and springs i should buy?

i remember reading this in the honda-tech.com forum and the accordclub.com forum.. all u have to is wrap half of your springs in plastic wire wrap cover and this will take care of the noise. 1) lift up ur car in the rear 2)wrap the top half of the springs in plastic wire loom wrap 3) lower car down. this takes like 10 mins max, anyone can do this.

Try removing the metal strut dust cover. If you have a bent cover it may rub the outer edge of your strut. It’s located in the center of your coil.
