I have a question, i have access to a 94 f22a sohc vtec motor, as far as vtec, i was told by a local shop that i dont have to have a vtec ecu as long as i buy a vtec controller or an rpm activated switch of some kind. is this true. this would be alot easier than trying to get the ecu and wiring in it throught the ecu. any help is apprecaited. Thanx

that sounds about right. The only thing about it is this:

When your engine hits 4500RPM or so, and kicks in VTEC not only does VTEC get enabled, but also the gas/oxygen injection changes for better efficiency. If you just put in a RPM switch it wouldn't do that so VTEC wouldn't give you quite as much as if you had a ECU.

Thats my 2c anyway thats just an opinion it isn't based in fact thats just what stands to reason.
