i recently tried setting up a group buy for a short shifter but got no bites. so i decided to make one myself. all i did was take the oem shift lever which looks like this:

x
x
x <-------this is your first bend. pspec cut here and welded to position a.
x
x
a <--------- this is your second bend
o cut here (after cut/weld this is where the shiftplate sits)
o
o
o
bbbb <----------cut here
ccccccc <-------------- this is the base where your shift cable is!!
i took a zip disk on a grinder and cut off the (o's) section and took it to a machine shop and got them to weld (a) to (b). i know have a 3 inch shorter lever. they only charged me 10 bucks
and for all you sceptics . . . . no the weld will not break eventually. (the oem lever is oem welded to the base)
pspec built there's that way because when you are looking down at the shifter it is centered, but the bend is there to keep your hand away from smashing into the e-brake when you shift to second.
my way is crooked from the sky view, but when you throw it into 2nd your ok.
if you want even short throw, you can buy the short shift plate adapter ( dc sports) and move the position of (c) to a higher spot. by doing so your effectively shortening your shift lever from the bottom-up. or you are moving your shift point to a higher location.
you can then go one step further and weld the short shifter plate to your lever, thus keeping it from falling off mid shift.
