Ok What The Big Deal Bout SOHC And DOHC..............
Why ppl Make A big fuss of the h22 so much it just a engine that 97-01 prelude came with..........why you ppl don't like the sohc f22 it come with the kinda slow accord............lol
i mean with the right money spent on any engine....you can get the best out your engine......fo that i get a prelude if i wanted a h22.........i mean i want one shit......lol
two cam are better than one..........

f22 - 145hp and 147lb ft of torque
jdmh22 - 200hp and 160lb ft of torque
building up an f22 to get the power of a h22 w/ minor bolt ones gives you a less reliable engine.....h22 w/ bolt ons u have a reliable engine w/ the same power and probly less money
thats my take on it at all

the cheaper thing is missinturpreted,
gettin 200hp in f22 is cheaper than buying h22 with 200hp, 300hp in h22 is cheaper than 300hp f22

how do u get 200hp out of an f22 cheaply...with out nos? ur bolt ons will give about 10-15 realistic hp

In DOHC engines there is a seperate cam to operate the intake valves and then another one to operate the exhaust valve. Since the engine doesn't have to work as hard it allows the engince to rev to highers rpms which in turn allows the engine to have greater power and a longer powerband to use that power effectivly. Oh and btw bolt ons really don't do shit for an engine, the only real way to get good long lasting power is to rebuild the engine with performance part.

yes your bolt ons only cost about 1k, some turbo kits that you can make f22 200hp cost less than to buy and swap an h22.

VTEC...Although some accord models came equipped with it, the ones that did only operated from a SOHC platform. The overlap becomes more precise with DOHC motors because you have 2 separate bumpsticks to work with.

I'm not saying it's the shitiest engine in the world, it's just the tuning potential goes farther for the H22 than the F22. Not only does it come with more power to start with, you can end up with higher numbers in the end for way less money than you can with the F22. Here's the deal, after I swap the Turbo H22 into my car, i'm not just going to get rid of the F22. That's gonna be my next project but towards the Naturally Aspirated side of things. It really depends on where your goals lie; if you wanna have high HP numbers and have an engine that hauls, i'd go H22. But if your goal is to build a unique, one-off engine, then the F22 might be the right choice for you.

well first i think it's going to be a long ass time before the H-gets outdated, cause you can make way more power with this engine, way easier than all the computer oriented engines coming out now. I'd have to say K20 or something along those lines...

the K24 is the tsx motor, it's pretty much just a bigger K20. i'm not sure if they put it in any us accords, but they should. also, i can't wait for a type s.

yea, the v6's are cool, but i'm a bigger fan of getting more power out of less motor. the f20c, and now the f22c are just rediculous.

ok what bout the f22b1 i was reading some good thing bout the 2.2 motor
i honda tuning.........it got a turbo kit sand some cool stuff come for it too.....
Like they Say get more power from a less motor
f22b1

yes my f20b will have .2 liters less than my current f22 :)
Da_VTEC_KiD
02-12-2004, 06:34 PM
what the liters got to do with the engine........
what the differents about the 2.2 liter and 2.0 liter
Da_VTEC_KiD
02-18-2004, 08:11 PM
why you want less liters.................less liters it got the less power you got get out of ur engine.....why you want less displacements......or less ccc
in f22 you get 0.55 liters per inlined cylinders so times four is 2.2 literz.......... :D
so why you want 0.05 less liters per cylinders

cause its dohc vtec, and has 40-50+ more hp than the f22b1

you gona pay so much just to gain 40-50+ hp..........you gona get like 10-20 hp more to the wheel.....

its basically a smaller h22, ive allways wanted one, they are rare and sexy. comes with a short geared tranny, so h22 accord vs f20b accord = f20b winnar! but ill have to wait i wont have enought money by the time so.

At Least f20b Is An Accord Engine......
But I heard those engine are very good but they don't have that much aftermarket support like the h22 do
vasponger
02-21-2004, 07:46 AM
actually, theyre bascially the same parts as h22 cept internally, cam gears, intake, header, pulleys, i actually found out, the cam gears, pulleys, flywheel, for the f22 and h22 fit eachother

2 is better than 1... anyways i am gonna stick with my sohc cuz its more of a challage to fix a F22 then H22 that every prelude has.. plus i hab no money for H22 rite now and the swap seems too much werk.. ecu.. harness.. mounts.. just too many little stuff... maybe later... F22 the engine is not slow.. the engine doesnt have that much to do with how fast u can go and stuff like that.. it has to do with ur tranny.. ur gear ratio.. how can simi have so much HP be so slow.. cuz the tranny/gear ratio is set for alot of low end torque.. it u can change ur tanny or gear ratio.. ur car can be quicker.. i could be say alot of bs but my uncle and I had a arguement bout this soo.. and he kinda won lol so i really think its ur gear ratio.. want to be faster.. have more low end torque or something like that... but again the H22 redlines so much higher.. its crazy cuz i been so use to my F22 at 6250 redline but i usally take it to 6500+ ...
anyways if i break this engine i have another F22 Vtec my uncle has with only i tink 30000 miles... i just need to go pick it up and sway.. good luck tuners :D ;) :)
