Hello, I have a 94 accord ex, i bought it used with 130k miles on it. When i put gas into my car i notice the fuel guage drops really really fast to Empty. I can drive around for days and days at the empty level until light comes on. I never payed much attention to it but now im so pissed. I put 15 dollars into the tank and in 2 days it was at Empty. . and i only drove the car to and from school. its a 15min roundtrip. Also does the fuel light actually sense how much gas is in car or does it cut on from where the guage is at. cause im wondering if im getting false low gas lights cause it will flash for 3 seconds sometimes and then not come back on. Your help will be appreciated

Where's Ken when you need him? lol!

He did a nice write up on the old forum about the issue you are having. It is from the fuel level sending unit that sits inside the gas tank. It just needs to be cleaned out. Ken posted a DIY fix for it that only cost a few dollars but requires you to take the sending unit out of the gass tank to clean it. It's actually a common issue on Accords and has even been recalled by Honda on a few different models (inluding 5th gen Accords). More than likely that's the culprit. Other than that, the only other thing it could be is the fuel gage itself going out on you or a short in the wire, but it's probably gonna be the sending unit in the tank.

i cleaned mine, it wasnt too much trouble....take out the trunk liner in the floor....unplug the harness to it, remove the bolts....carefull pull the unti out...clean the contacts w/ a qtip and maybe a very little bit of rubbing alcohol...the contacts get corroded and dont work as wlll on the sending unit....solved my problem
