I need help, i really really do. I have and 1992 honda accord EX MT and my trans is having problems. I was driving home a couple days ago and i lost 5th gear. I pulled over to figure out what was wrong, only to discover that 1st, 3rd, and 5th gear were gone. They eventually came back occasionally going in and out and i managed to make it home. I went out to my car the next day and ran through my gears with the car on and off, and i find that 4th and 5th are gone where as 1st, 2nd, 3rd work now. Can anyone tell me what is going on? I talked a couple of people but they didnt know hondas very well. My pop thought it was the sychronizer, someone else thought it was my trans losing 5th and taking 4th with it, another thought my trans oil was low or something like that. Any ideas? O and is Acclude on cuz when i used to be here he was the true brainiac.

Yeah, I'm still on here. Not as much, but I stop in and post when I can.
Anyways, it sounds like the clutch is going out. If it were the transmission, then once the gear is gone, it's gone for good until the tranny gets rebuilt. If you can still find the gears fine with the motor off, but they get difficult to find once the motor is started, then it's the clutch going out on you.

There's not really any adjusting you can do to the clutch itself unless you pull off the tranny to get acess to it. With everything still intact, you can only adjust the clutch pedal and that has hardly any effect on the actual clutch. I can't believe it only lasted you a year!!! What brand clutch did you use?
I've seen good long lasting results with Honda OEM, ACT, and Clutchmasters. They seem to last several years before any issues develop while other brands tend to die early or only last a year or so. If you need to replace it, get a good one so you don't have to worry about it for several years.
