everyone always says that the honda is built to run forever 300,000 miles or so.. if this is true then what is the worst that has happened to your car so far, such as (something major going wrong)... for me i think it has to be the transmission going out twice in a year, that an my car getting stollen 6 months ago... what is it for you.. im pushing onwards of 170,000 + miles now, an i have not had anything happen besides the tranny.... what was it for you if anything at all yet...

is that original miles, or is that with a jdm swap in it... that is hella low if it is the original motor... that is what my car had on it when i bought it 4 years ago, or was it 5 years.. lol.. now im at like double that... but it is still purrin like a kitten, if you ignore the slightly rough idle..

my new engine is sitting i need to pay for piping and get haltech and bov and injectors and wastegate and fuel lines and fuel pump. but when that baby goes in it will be brand new so zero miles. heheh my speedo doesnt work because of the tranny swap so i will never gain more miles. hehe. hopefully the haltech will fix it though. still alot of friggin work to do on my engine. oh and the last thing i need is roll cage in my car which my friend is making for me. it will stop the engine from tearing apart my car. the engine i have in my car is orignial which i am trading with jg for the new one. after it is ready to be put in. oh and i need axles and lsd my fucking god so much money at least another 4-5g since lsd is custom made along with nearly everything else

well intially for the public it will make about 500-550 whp and for me and aidan my buddy we are hoping to get it up to 600-700 whp. the problem is not really the horsepower (easy to make power with methanol) but the torque since it makes more torque than horsepower. my ideal would be around 600whp flat.

I have worked on four accords, and here's the major issues I've had with them:

87 Accord -- camshaft broke, turned the car into a parts car since I had a 88 accord that was fuel injected. I think it had about 280,000 miles

88 Accord - so far, the rear suspension has had to be replaced, and the distributor and alternator have had to be replaced. Also rebuilt the AT. its running strong right now and it has about.. 215,00

93 accord ex (auto) - 115,000 miles, nothing major has had to be done to it... I had to redo the brake system and redo the front suspension and exhaust rusted out.

93 accord ex (mt) - 115,000 - alternator, exhaust rusted out, and thats it so far :)

i think anouther useful section would be a product review area. i have some parts i wouldnt recomend... and if i had a place specific to post about it, i could keep u all from buying the same crap...and good stuff too........ i think user advice would be helpfull.

ya i like the idea as well.. we should partistion it to phil an see what he says about it... product review would be good because we could do are own feild tests an print are dyno sheets an stuff when we post it up or something like that.. so ppl could see what it realy would do for them...

96k on my stock 97 accord se. It's been misfiring lately, but i got rid of that by replacing my cap and rotor, new spark plugs and wires. I also need to check my timing, replace struts, and bushings(what kind of bushings and struts should I buy next). I also feel my auto tranny slipping when it shifts from 1st to 2nd gear so I should check that out. Replaced my old mounts ( it took me a very long time) and I don't know the code for my stock stereo, so i need to take the thing out, get the serial number from my stereo and go back to the dealer to get my code. By the way, is there any trick to take out a stock cd player from the dash? My trim is all messed up because I've been trying all night.

TheFirstNutZo
12-07-2003, 11:25 AM
on the 93's at least, it all comes out from behind there are bolts holding the CD player in, you need to remove the bolts in order for it to come out. Then you just push it out and it slides out nice. In order to do it you have to remove the center console and the glove box though.. so its a bit of a pain.

wow, i think i have seen the father of accords today... let me tell ya, i went to the parts store today to try an find a set of ngk spark plugs, an there was this old man in there trying to find something for his car... all i heared was him say accord, an the only accord i seen out in the lot was an old ass (from the 80's) original accord, (let me tell you this car was very well keept) so when i was leaving the old guy was out side buy his car, i went over an asked him if he was the original owner an he said yes... (this is where the shock comes into play now) i asked him how many miles he had on it an he replyed that it had somewere around 324,000 miles on it... yes you read that correctly... an the crazyist part aobut it is that it was the original tranny an motor he said.. that is insane in my opinion...

I have an F22A4 that has 270,000 original miles. Orig. motor and tranny. Changed the slave cyl. and clutch once (need to do it again soon) but that's about it. The rest has just been regular maintenance. This motor/tranny combo has been in 3 different Accords and has always run fine. With my luck the damn thing will blow tomorrow, but I think I can squeeze another 200,000 out of it before it finally goes. Check this out.....it still has the ORIGINAL TIMING BELT and believe it or not, but it still looks new to this day! Motor still has damn near perfect compression on all 4 cyl. and runs excellent. Tranny still shifts really smooth. I plan to keep this motor/tranny until they blow for good. I'll let you guys know when they finally kick, what caused it to die, and the mileage it die at.
