Hey, i was planning on buying a 98-02 accord but im confused on which one to get. should i get the EX model I-4 sedan with a manual transmission? or should i get the v6 instead. i know it doesnt come in a stick and i definitely cant afford a transmission swap. the problem is that i really like stick but will be willing to sacrifice it for xtra hp with basically the same mpg. i hav a 35 min. commute (highway) to college 5 days a week and i also hav a few friends w/o cars and they like to ride. yeah i charge gas money but they also hav no job. i like to accel. fast and their weight takes its toll (Ryan 6'3" Royce 6' Roddrick 6'3" & big-boned). will the v6's power be enough to noticeably compensate for that over the I-4? i would really appreciate a opinion. :cowboy:

get the EX 5 speed F23A, V6's have more problems with their automatic.
F23A will be hurting with all them people in the car though, hehe
(also please dont post same topic twice in different sections)

I have the inline 4 manual transmission. its a great car and only has about 40 less hp than the V6. the V6's will get about 5-6 less mpg than the 4 cylinder and with the amount of driving you'll be doing it will probably save you some money.

You can get a V6 in a 5speed and if i'm not mistaken you can also get a V6 in a 6speed in some years. I am trying to find a wrecked v6 so I can swap my auto with a 5 or 6 speed

i would go with the 4 cylinder.i have a inline 4, 5 speed and it's a great car.to tell u the truth I raced a v6 of the same year and I had him.It was from a stop to another about 150 feet apart and I beat him.i know he was racing because he provoked me to race but i'm was a bit confused on how I beat him.not by much though.but I guess it's because I have a 5 speed and I could have better take offs

Yeah the AV6's aren't known for their off the line performance, but if your on the freeway or something and you both floor it, the V6 will come out on top almost all the time. I say this cuz I do it all the time in my '99, lol.

Got the 5spd I4. 3rd tranny and about to be engine 2, oh yeah not even 80k on it. Hopefully the shop will get the h22 for me I'll find out my options tomarrow. None the less it's descent for all around power until about 110 then its a dog. but if you have an accord your probably going to want a stick, my friends auto can't get off the line for shit.

Pretty much any Honda automatic stock transmission cant handle a lot of power before it start having problems. Manual on the other hand is fine. I dont know how that dude is on his 3rd transmission...probably doesnt know how to shift manual properly.
