I just bought a new AEM cam gear, and was wondering if anyone could offer me some insight as to how I need to put this thing in. Also - my car is about to go in for timing belt service - if the DIY is too hard, would you guys just recommend having the mech do it while he does the timing belt service? I'm looking for the easiest, cheapest solution (and who isn't?!) lol

Also - I want to do a DIY Si-R headlight paintjob mod....but before I go ripping off my bumper to take out my headlights, is there anything I need to know before I start? Do I need any specific tools? is the healdight assembly hard to take apart? Do I need to take the whole bumper off? or just loosen it so I can get it behind it? And what am I looking to expect behind my bumper?

I guess all I'm really looking for is what you guys would rate the above DIY projects on a scale from 1 to 10...1 being the easiest mod ever, and 10 being "go to a mechanic, no matter how much it costs"

I appreciate the help.

P.S. my car's in the shop getting a remanufactured tranny put in, so I'm without my car until Wed....just to let you know I have a little time before I get my car back...if that makes a difference. lol

cam gears work with stock motors, right? I see all this stuff about how they are ideal for turbo cars, or cars with performance cams, but all I have is a cold air intake...and since Honda motors are interference motors, if the timing is off, the pistons will slam into the valves, which is as bad as hydrolocking...so if anyone can tell me if the AEM cam gear is gonna f up my motor, that would be good. lol

heres info for ur headlights....wrote this up a couple months back....

-paint...go to autozone...i think its Krylon BBQ and Stove Paint
-bake at 350 on cookie sheet for 5mins on middle rack(after removing everything from the back of the actual headlight)
-use a flathead screw driver and starting at the corners twist lightly and create a gap...u may need to put it back in the oven if the silicone starts the reharden...
-once youve gotten somewhat of a gap all around...use your asbestos fingers and pull the lense and housing apart...
-taping off....the longest part of the job...use painters tape or masking tape...very similar...but b4 you stick it to the headlight...stick to your clothing or your hand to make it less sticky...if you dont...when u pull the tape off...it could remove the mirror finish...
-using an exacto knife and patients....go around the headlight and tape off the reflective area of the headlight(be sure to tape over the reflector in the low beam)(took me about 30-45mins per headlight for taping...
-to spray...spray in thin coats...it dries very quickly so the painting doesnt take too long...after the paint is covered well(i think i did like 3-5coats)...use tweezers to help remove the taping....
-to reseal...either use black silicone sealant(autozone) or you can reheat the headlight peices and press it back together and hope it reseals properly....i used silicone
-then reassemble your headlight

i didnt notice a loss of light cuz i went from projectors to these and these are WAY brighter....but i really dont think there would be too much loss of light becuz you have taped off the actual part that aims the light in the needed directions...not the accidental "design reflections" if thats make any sense...
