ok, i was bored today, really bored. my car is in the shop getting a dent popped out. but anyway, i just put in a shift boot, with my AT. it looks ok, but i'm not completly satisfied with it. so i was looking online today for a good looking AT shift knob, that is not made be momo, and doesn't cost $85. i didn't find anything. so i started thinking about whether i could bore a hole in a MT shift knob, and put the button for the stock knob in, so everthing would work just like stock. i thought it might work ok, but then i had another idea, what if the whole knob was the button? if the shift knob was secured in small track, and you just push down on the whole knob, rather than a button. besides looking pretty cool, i thought it would work fairly well.
let me know what you think

yeah, i had the same idea...im sure it would work....dont know bout the tracks, i would just tighten it up so it dosnt move around freely, but u can still push it in when u need to. my other thought was that the button is only a safty feature, so couldnt u just install it with the button all the way down and aleiviate the need for it? but then u would have to be carful when ur girl is giving u road head that she dosnt bump it into reverse. just a thought......

yea, so i put it in, and my first thought about the tracks didn't work because there wasn't enough room between the knob and the shaft, so i just kinda have it sitting there, held in my the shift boot. it works, but i have another idea that might make it a little more stable. i don't think the idea about installing it with the button in is not such a good one, but whatever.

if the button stays down, you can't take the key out.
