Hey i just got a set of the 2 piece ceramic headers and i got them installed and everything and i am getting a engine light. Could someone help me out and figure what the damn light is doing on. I think it may be the O2 sensor because it may have gotten screwed up well taking it off the old headers cause it was like fused in there after all of thoose years of heat.So i got a new sensor plugged it in same situation. I have a feeling it is either that the ECM needs to be reset cause the light is on or it is the MAP sensor which also either needs to be reset or a piggyback needs to be added and the fuel and air pressure reclibrated. If someone can shed some light on the situation that would be very Helpful. Thank you !

It happens all the time with after market headers.
I have a 97 LX with a dc header also.
The only way around it is an 02 simulator.
A place online called casperelectronics.com has them.
I have not gotten one yet.
I have to remove my positive wire to my fuse box like once every other week to reset the ecu. I found thats the only way that clears it.

so basically if i get a new O2 sensor i can get the problem fixed by switching out the sensors and taking the positive off of my battery. I hope it will be that easy. I was gonna try to run it by a honda dealership and have them look at it and read the number from the ecu i know all of the numbers and what they mean when an engine light comes up it is just getting the equiptment to read that number it is all this expensive ass equipt. Thank you very much for replying though i was about to give up hope and just figure go talk to the honda people. I am just really lazy lol.

You dont need a new 02 sensor.
Ussually when you put a header on it throws a code for 02 sensor bank 2.
Which means there is either too much or not enough resistance.
What you need is an 02 sensor simulator.
Until then you can remove the pos lead to the fuse box.
that ussually clears the code for like a week.
Dont take it to honda, their going to rip you off.
If you have an autozone near you they will test the CEL for free.
Im betting its the secondary 02 sensor though.
It happens to everyone with odb11 hondas with after market headers.

Stainless is just for show.
Ceramic is better for performance.
I think stainless holds the heat near the engine.

ahh is there a difference in sound? or they about the same? im thinking id like to put some headers on my cheese soon. i definitely need more performance out of my car.

ceramic headers also get pretty nasty looking after a while. it doesn't matter if you put some exhuast wrap, or a heat sheild on, but the stainless will look nice forever.

I have a stainless steel headers and the finish is practically all gone, but i do have the header wrap and its a lot cooler than without it. My friends 95 accord has the ceramic dc headers its still looking pretty good, after like 2 years which is about the same amount of time i had my stainless steel, which was looking burnt up before the header wraps were put on.

-What I did for the O2 sensor problem was took it to a place called, ..get this... "Joe's Weldin' N Stuff" Some old hippie that makes shit and works on cars. He was the only guy that I could find in Dallas that could heliarc weld a nut onto my exhaust runner. He cut a hole in the tube where the header runner hooks to the exhaust runner. There is a short pipe there, about a foot long that is perfect. He welded a nut onto it and I screwed it in, and lengthened the wires, and presto. That was it : )
To reset the ECU, pull the radio backup fuse out from the box under the hood for 10 seconds and replace it. This will reset it for sure, as this is the method that many if not all shops use. This is also the recommended way as printed in the chilton guide. I do this all the time, and it works.
Good luck!

Hey guys i am sorry i havent responded earlier. Well i got the problem fixed taking th O2 sensor out caused a problem with it because the damn thing was stuck in there so basically i replaced the O2 sensor and then i cleared my ECU codes and it was fine and i have had no problems with it. I painted my heat sheild i will get picks for you! Peace
