hey i have a 93 honda accord ex pretty much stock besides a bootlegged intake, and i was looking to spank a few civic si's. is it possible to either swap heads or a cam from a vtec engine onto my f22? i was thinking maybe a 94 accord would do for the transplany. and if this is possible, how much $ and time would it take? right now my car is probably the slowest honda in the 1/8th and im getting sick of having to run down 626's. yea thats right i gotta mazda killer. by the way my intake is nothin more than the stock air filter strapped to the tube with some tape. i had a ractive filter on it but i couldt get the tubing right. o yea i bought one of those resistors off ebay and i didnt know if i was puttin in the right sensor or not and if i was i couldnt tell a diff. somebody please tell me sumthin quick!!!!!

first off... if you got a better intake you would show more power from it... you can get them pretty cheap off ebay and stuff... but now on to your questions... no you cant just switch cams because vtech is actually a second cam that kicks in at a higher rpm for a better power band... but switching the head im not totally positive but i dont think there is any dohc heads that will fit on our stock f22a... vtech does do some.. but i spank vtech accords all the time.. i have never been beat by a fifth gen... if you want to spend that much money do this... (i always say this) intake, exhaust, headers, cam gear, underdrive pulley. and if you shop around right you could probably get that stuff for about $500-700 which isnt bad for perfomance parts... then you would beat all kinds of Si's... and if you dont need an air conditioner then you can gain alot of acceleration by bypassing it... and that is about a 10 minute job... all you have to do is go to an auto parts store and ask for a belt for an accord without a/c and then take the belt off your alternator and you a/c and your pulley and put the new one on from the altenator to the pulley... the less parts your engine has to move... the faster it can go.. you could also do it with power steering but i wouldnt recommend it... not with front wheel drive and such a heavy car

Couple things to add here. Vtec is not all that great and is not a different camshaft but rather a camshaft lobe with higher lift and duration. swappable heads on our stock f22's include f22b1 vtec(sohc 94-97 ex) and the h23 prelude si head (dohc non-vtec). U'll spend close to a minimum of $500-900 trying to swap heads because u'll need the ecu for the head that u choose, intake manifold, various belts, distributor, throttle body, exhaust manifold, coolant blocks, and maybe even oil passage blocks if i remember correctly. If u can get it all for free then have at it. If not then i wouldn't try it solely because these setups haven't been put under a dyno as far as i can find and i'm not gonna go through all that trouble to end up with like 5 hp more for that much money.

Those chips (the little resistor things) suck. Let me guess, you bought it off ebay for close to $10? They are only regular resistors that can be bought at Radio Shack for $0.89 a peice. And they don't do anything, the only thing that they "do" (or that theyre advertised to do at least) is to make the computer think that the engine and the air coming in as cold all the time, and it makes the c9omputer adjust the fuel to air ration accoringly (usually adding more fuel than necessary..burning way too much..wasting your precious gas money). So inshort, they dont do anything, and you should kick yourself for believing in it to begin with. ( DOnt worry, I bought one before too, so im just playin). Since then, mostly through this site and all the members teaching (thanks guys), that there is no such thing as cheap good quality horsepower. Sure you can smack together an intake made from Home Depot parts, but you can also spend the money on a good intake from the start, and not have to retape it up every month or so. Just some advice as far as those stupid chips go. Hope this helps, man.

Well, just about any F or Hseries head is swapable including the H22A, H23, F22B (single and dual cam), F20A, F20B, etc... The question is..is it worth it. Probably not. The only reasonably priced heads you will find are the H23, H22, and F22B (SOHC). Even then you're looking to spend at least $50-200 on just the head, plus head gasket and possible head gasket changes ($150), oil pump from donor VTEC motor ($50), misc. wires and stuff ($25), VTEC ECU ($50-200), oil change ($20), countless hours of time (priceless hehe) for 5 hp or so. So you could spend anywhere from $350-600 for that 5 hp or go buy the ebay intake for $30 shipped and get that 5 hp. It's a cool concept, but not a real power adder on our cars.

what about the cam itself, its hard to find them for the fseries do you have to buy the specific one for your engine

I've also been looking for cams, and i gave up once, but them i found some. I know that KMS sells cams, there really good according to the guy on the telephone, he also said you could get the package with comes with valves, springs and retainers which would help it alot, it also would prevent it from losing horsepower, and he says that the cam is specaily made so it won't wear as much(also preventing lost hp). Here's the site if your interested, I would get it, but it's to expensive for me. KMS (http://www.honda-performance.com/products_lv3.asp?productID=189)
