I'm swaping a 1994 JDM H22a into my 97 accord. I have the ECU and COMPLETE wiring harness for the h22a. My question is all thi things i've read about this swap talk about modifying the accord harness to fit the h22a, but since i have both ECU and wiring harness shouldn't i just be able to mount them up like they were suppossed to be put together? Are there any problems that could develop with my electronics if i decide to do this? Thanks guys..

Ok, there may be slight difference from what I'm saying depending on exactly what parts of the harness you have. You say you have the FULL harness. By that I assume you mean you have the intact motor harness that attatches to all the motor sensors/devices, and the harness that plugs into that and goes to the ECU. Here's where things differ depending on if you have all of that or not. First of all, there is the OBD1 motor going into and OBD2 equiped car. 1. gut the old Accord harness that goes from the ECU to the motor harness from under the hood (keep the parts of the harness that run to your headlights, ABS parts, etc. and only gut the parts that plugs into the motor harness). From the ECU plugs, some wires go to the motor and some go to the rest of your car for stuff like your gage cluster tranny stuff (if you got an auto) etc. Those you need to know what they are and remove them from the 97 Accord ECU harnesses. I suggest labelling them (like "pin D2 Brake switch input signal") so when it comes time to wire those up to the ODB1 ECU harness you just gotta look for the Brake switch input signal location and make the connection. Swap over the OBD1 ECU harness obviously but out of that harness, you can only use the wires that go through the firewall to the motor. The ones that go to the car (like my brake switch example) need to be manually connected to that OBD1 harness. Unfornutely even if you had the full JDM harness for everypart of the car, it would do you no good because of the whole right hand drive difference, so you need to keep as much of your original Accord wiring as possible and use only the H22 motor harness and the H22 ECU harness parts that run to the motor harness. The rest you're gonna need to use the existing Accord wiring. Hope that helps. If I confused you let me know. If you have the OBD2 wiring diagrams, send them to me and I'll draw you a diagram of how to wire it all up.

i have wiring diagrams for both engines (put of the helms manuals at least). Let me try and find those and scan them so that i can send them to you. So from what i understand: i will be using the full JDM harness that i have, but in addition to that i need to make additional adjustments to the OBD 1 ecu in order for the accord wiring that is there to work properly. I'll try to find the pages and scan them tonight...Thanks for your help on this one acclude
