Some piggy back chips advertise they can add up to 20 hp by tricking the egine into over using the intake. Now I've got a cold air intake on my accord, and if I hook up this piggy back chip will that do anything, will it hurt my engine or what? thanks

first off.. never buy any of those fake resistor chips from ebay for 10-25$. if you really are interested in a piggy back performance control module, heres a bit of information them..
what they generally do is "trick" your computer to retune your ignition, fuel, and air consumption. this in turn provides for better performance. higher hp and quicker quater mile times are usually the result.
what most pcm's (performance control modules) do for power is in the 8%-20% power gain range. for example, the general power gain on the accord using a Jet V-force is about 8-12 actual wheel hp. main reason i use the Jet V-force for reference is that ive seen the tests done a long time ago by IMPORT TUNER. Also, Jet has dyno charts on their website at www.jetchip.com
other pcms would include
venom pcm
shogun tuner pcm

personally, i use the Jet V-force and am very happy with it. its slightly larger, but it works great and offers no work in tuning... just turn it on and let it work on its own.

there are other things... like the APEX'i S-afc/V-afc that also do wonders for the engine.. but these require specific tuning and dyno time

all the cheap chip does it trick your computer into thinking its not warmed up and has it trying to warm the car up by adding a richer fuel mixture. no real gains will be seen or felt. 1-3hp max from fake chips

i went to that jet v-force site R33 and it seems pretty good but they dont give you much details for their import products. Did you have to send your ecu or pcm into them or did they just send you a fits all honda plug and play unit?
