i haven't heard of the field afc but i have heard of like the apexi S-AFC, anyway u decide to go if ur doing anything to the ignition or fuel table like those units would do u should get it tuned correctly, just popping on bolt-ons like intake, headers, exhaust, cams, etc don't really need tuning but u should find a shop with a wide-band a/f ratio machine to dyno it and tune correctly.

Yes. That is a great unit. I've heard of tons of people who don't like it or claim it has messed with their car, but I would say that that's pretty much all becuase of installation error. When I say installation error, that means exactly what Midnite said about the whole installing, testing and tuning required to use it without any problems. It's not a bolt-on part. You can't just connect a few wires and call it a day. It's an "advanced" electronic device that needs to be treated accordingly. If you want it to be worth a shit, have it tuned after its installed. You should be fairly happy with the results if you do that. The gains won't be major, but you'll be able to monitor a whole lot of usefull things with it. You'd see much more benefit if it were being installed on a turbo'd or charged motor where precise air/fuel control is need while our NA motors aren't as picky. If your friend is giving it to you then do it. If you have to pay for it, then I don't think the cost is worth the small gain you will see on an NA motor unless you've already done all the bolt-ons. Simple bolt-ons could give you more bang-for-tha-buck. If you got a turbo, then you should have already had this unit or something similar installed. It is a good unit though.
