I think this qualifies for an exterior question. Besides steel wool, how the hell do you get hard water spots off the windows; front and back windshields mainly. Does anyone know of a potent application that won't melt my fingers in the process of applying it on the windows? Thanks

Steel wool? Wash your car in the shade, when its cool. That will keep the soap burns and spots away. Also dry the car.

I've been using the steel wool on the side windows, but the front and back windshields I can get the spots out. Sometimes I feel like my hand is going to go through the windshield with the amount of pressure I put on the steel wool. That is why i am running out of options.

Ive never heard of using steel wool to remove waterspots. Seems like it would scratch up the glass. Anyways, another option to consider is using a glass polishing compound and kit.

Its great for restoring glass.

Hmm maybe I will look into that then.
Yeah steel wool is really good on windows and chrome trim like on the window borders. Just make sure you get the extra fine or extra extra fine. I was getting waterspots on my chrome and side windows, and the steel wool took it right out and made my windows spotless. Now when i wash the car normally, I just use glass cleaner and the windows look brand new.

Have you heard of "wax as u dry"? I use it once a week when right after i wash and rinse my car. You can spray the whole car and it can take off waterspots on the body and glass as long as your car is outta of the sun particularly when the car is wet. I also use the "absorber" so i can prevent scratches, unlike certain chamois or towels.

You mean the wax-as-u-dry by Eagle One? If so, then yeah I've been using that stuff for about two years now. I never thought to try it on the windows, hmmm.

yep. that's the one. I was thinking the same as u about only putting on the body, until my sister used it on her car and windows, I asked " what are u doing?", five minutes later i was speechless, cuz her windows were so clear and clean. Since then, i been using it for the glass also. man, that stuff works. plus, it makes the whole wash-rinse-dry process much faster.

Yeah I love using that stuff on the car, makes drying a whole lot easier and in the process it makes the car more glossy. I usually wash my car on saturday mornings so I'll try it tomorrow morning and let you know if it works.

Saturday mornings??
Yeah the way my house is, the sun doesn't come over the roof until about 9:30-10am. So I get up around 8am, do my 2 mile jog, then come back to the house and back the car out of the garage to wash it. By the time I'm done using the wax-as-u-dry stuff the sun is coming over the house. Then I'll spend another 45 min blasting my music while cleaning the windows and detailing the inside. I do it every saturday morning, except for the detailing part, i generally do that every other weekend.

WOW. At least I know Im not the only one. All my neighbors surrounding me(I live in caudelsack, I think that's how u spell it)think Im a freakin weirdo cuz they think I wash my car and spray on that wax-as-u-dry stuff too much(geez, once a week is the recommended amount according to my new paint instructions). Ha, i used to blast my music while I was doing the interior before too, when I had bass. Im going to redo my interior maybe take out the back seats and make a whole new trunk area w/custom enclosed subs and NOS tank.
I don't like anyone in the back of the car, it always rubs.

Hahaha I feel you man, even when I had my hatch, people swore up and down I was a damn taxi. Thats another reason why I chose to have a coupe, that way I could put my driver seat so far down that there wouldn't be any room to sit back there. So when people are wanting a ride, I just tell them to wait for the next bus to come.

LOL. I feel the same way. I wish I had a coupe(500lbs lighter than my ex 4dr vtec), I would do the same, or jus take all the seats out and leave one racing seat for me. That way I won't have to worry about someone making my carpets dirty or spilling something, or someone wanting to smoke in my car and getting ashes all over the damn place(damn ex-girlfriend).
