How much horsepower could i expect from a adjustable Cam gear (AEM) on a 91 SE running a cold air intake? How beneficial would one of these cam gears be on our F22A6 (SOHC)? Thanks

I've READ they give you about 7HP.

They don't give you any horsepower. They simply allow you to adjust the cam timing to maximize performance. With just a CAI, after the cams are adjusted correctly, expect to see a gain from 0-7 hp. 0 hp gain means that your cam timing was right even before the new gears. You'd only see the 7 hp increase if your cam timing was off pretty badly in the first place. Watch out cause you can also "lose power" if they're set wrong.

Yeah what Acclude said is correct. I wouldn't recommend you doing it yourself unless if you know what you're doing.

Acclude, wouldn't you expect a little difference either way due to the lite weight design?

Ah, good point! If the gears are lighter than you may see some benefit. Assuming that your cam timing was perfect before you changed the gears and that it was set back to perfect with the new (lighter) cam gears, you'll prolly see 1hp or two increase but nothing drastic and you may not even notice a difference at all.
Having just an intake, the gears won't do you too much good, but if you plan to continue upgrading piece by piece then sure, they're a good idea. If you plan to go forced ind. then they are A MUST DO modification.

Exhaust is more of a preferance. Do you want loud and obnoxious or do you want quiet and "stock-like". Whatever you decide, make sure it's all stainless-steel. Don't go cheap. You can spend $500 on it now getting the good stuff and be set for the life of the car, or you can spend $200 once every 2-3 years replacing parts with the cheap material and still have to continue replacing stuff. Do it once and do it right.

I've heard both sound the same (bassy and kinda loud..but not obnoxious), but the N1 has a 4" tip on it..and i dont know how far it sticks out apst the end of the stock bumper (i dont want a stomper exhaust (one that sticks out like 4 inches from the back of the car)). Im just trying to get an opinion on how each would look on a 4 dr 91...thanks..

The bigger the tip the louder it is.....And the silencer that comes w/ it makes you can sound like a kazoo...I made a custom silencer on a 3" tip and weldeld it in so no rattle...sounds awsome...As for how far it sticks out is up to you...Assuming you have someone that welds for you or take it to your local shop and move it back in inch or two......My tip sticks out just past the black trim at the bottom, but not farther than the bumper .....Once your stock exhaust comes out and the new one in, youll relize how much room you have to play with where you want it....Well good luck

Puttin it on myself. Helped my friend (92blackEX) install his header and Fireball Catback a while back. Anyone know how far the N1 sticks out under the stock bumper(without having to modify it)?

Jim, I'm guessing that nobody knows so you either get it and get screwed or it's nice, or you get the one like mine that works good.
