hey , well its getting to be that time with my 94, probably in about a yr im gonna have to get a new motor, now heres the question, for some odd reason i just want to get a ex vtec motor and convert to 5 spd. now heres my question...is it worth doing that and then just building that motor and maybe throwing a turbo on it, see i really dont know what to do, and my bf isnt really giving me any ideas at the moment...and opinions will be glady taken.

you'll have a hard time finding an f22 vtec with low miles (very important when building a turbo) the transmission isn't really a problem, you could put any f or h series transmission with the f22, assuming you have the right ecu. a much easier route would be the h22. it seems like everyone has one now, but it's like bolting on 50 hp. www.turbokits.com has a few kits specifically for h22 accords, if you wanted to go that way. once i get some money, that probably what i'd like to do.

Through top end I think it's 3000+ with the trans, ecu, and lsd for a H22

H22A is the only way

you people are forgeting the holy grail of accord swaps, the f20b, it a 11.0:1 compression, so i wouldn't recommend turboing until you beef up internals, and there are some on ebay for about 3k, with trans, lsd, ecu, plus it redlines about 700rpms higher than h22,

theirs always the boost worthy h23, www.hmotorsonline.com only wants like 1000 for a long block

cool motor, very rare.
less torque, less weight. higher compression = less reliability.
and its hard to find parts for...

yea F20B is a nice motor, but there is just more parts for H22A, so go for the easier one

However, the F20 has a history in racing already. Honda used the engine with three '96 accords in the JTCC pushing 300HP with moderate, non-turbo tuning. (I,H,E, nothing over the top) If you can find one for a reasonable price that hasnt been abused, I'd go for the F20. Add the fact that it can wind up more than the H22 because of lighter internals, you might just have a serious contender for the street. Keep the boost low and you should be fine.

Can we all tell how busy I am at work?

well when i get the new motor, i will have everything i want done to it before it is put back in so its all done and ready, i think my bf is wanting to do the swap, we know a shop that will do it but sometimes he lags getting back on phone calls, so i dunno, if i wanna wait 6 months from now, ya know what i mean

hmmm first of all h22 parts fit f20b engines, second i don't live in cali, but i'v heard that the swap is legal if the first letter is the same on engines f20b-f22b don't quote me on that though, higer compression doesn't have to mean lower reliability unless you do something stupid like run 20lbs of boost on it or something, i'v got my project f20b going with new heads, connecting rods and crank, but the h22 is the easy way to go so really up to your preference thanks for backing me up 4dsc

No prob Sleepy. I'd go with a F20 over an H22 simply because there are waay too many h22 variants, and you really cant tell the difference between concurrent versions without doing a compression check and dyno-ing it. F20, balanced and ported, I,H,E, and a larger throttle body if possible, should put you in the 300hp ballpark by my figures.

or she can get H22 from Accord EuroR, 220HP, 163TQ. I've been giving this some thought.

go with the h22 it costed me about 1600 with a JDM H22a with 35000 miles on it papers and everything and the 1600 included the instalation the engine and a tranny swap at this tuner shop just go to a shop and become friends and try to get the hook up

i still like the f20b theory, probably a good way to get featured in a magazine if you have a show car, and i'd say close to 300hp na is a pretty good swap

1600 Good Price, Hehehe We Have A Performance Shop, I Am Gonna Probably Be The One To Go To School And Learn How To Swap For Us. I Knew A Few Shops Cheepest Prices That I Have Got 3000 Here In Cali.....as For Swaps Being Iileagl, Yes They Are, But If The Yr Of The Motor Is The Yr Of Your Car And Up Then It Is Leagal, And It Has To Pass Smog And All Of That Good Stuff
