i drive a auto '97 Honda Accord SE and recently busted my transmission by jumping the median taking a turn 2 sharp n a 3' pole stickin out of the ground struck it...im considering switching my car to a Manual but i want to know if any knows the average cost of the transmission swap?? plus how much would it cost to switch the outer casing of my auto transmission if no internal damage isn't done?? HELP ME!!

well first of, let me say welcom to the site...
an second of all ouch.. i know what it is like to get the casing cracked... i just whent through with it myself... an to be quite honest, it would be alot better to just do a hole swap, rather than try an just fix the transmission... i say this because i just spent $2700. at AAMCO to have them replace the casing, an they said that the internals do need to be replaced even though nothing mager was presint... (but thats aamco)...
ifyou were going to wanna do an h22 swap or something like that youre looking at around $1500/$2500 depeding on where you go... if you were wanting to just swap the trany then it is more like $300/$700 depending as well... convertng from auto to a stick would run you a few hours to do, an shops charge i think around $75. an hour... ive been quoted anywher fro 600/$800 just to swap the trany out.. an a little more to do the whole motor.. theprices above that i gave you are just for the motor and or trany.. then you have the price of install, an you still have to ake into consideration the cost of parts and all the little things... but in the end it will all be worth it.... so you are goig to wanna do somemore reaserch on it yourself as well... ask around at some shops an see what they say... you miht find a better deal then what i have listed... good luck...
