Rattling System. I have put two 12 inch woofers in the trunk of my 96 accord. The trunk rattles like crazy. I was wondering if anyone know what i can do to stop da rattling.
-I have heard of A spray that turns into foam and reduces the vibration.
-Thanks.

Dynamat is the best way. http://www.dynamat.com/car_trunk.htm
You can also just add pillows, thick blankets or the foam mattreses that are used in between a bed matress and a box spring bed.

I had the same problem with my accord so this is what I did. I stripped off all the carpeting and got some of this stuff called "Goof off" to wipe off all of the sticky adhesive and what not. Then use the dynomat sheets and a roller to roll them on. After that then put the carpet back on and waa laaa, no more being laughed at.

Yeah but would that dynomat help with the trunk lid Rattling.

Yes, thats the whole reason to use dynomat. Its kinda like a shock absorber.

yeh dynamat is the best thing it's a lil' expensive but worth it, don't waste ur money with the spray stuff, it won't work as good as the dynamat. it really is the best noise absorber out there right now n be sure to use some behind ur license plate so that won't rattle against the trunk either.
This is a bit cheaper, but involves more dicking around but works as well as dynamat IMO. Grab a can of spray-on glue, some sub-box carpet (that fairly thin stuff to cover up sub-boxes that perectly match the carpet on the floor of the trunk), and a whole heap of carpet underlay (that 1/2 inch thick, insulated stuff that goes under your carpet at home).
Measure up the right amount of underlay, spray the glue on generously, then roller or press down by hand. Trim off the rough edges to neaten it up, then do the same for the sub-box carpet. Because I have the 96, I had to put velcro on the edge of the lid where I have to go in to replace the bulbs for the lamps on the lid itself instead of gluing the carpet down, so it doesn't look as neat there.
Now, no more rattles. Also, you might find that there's a bit of rattle under the parcel shelf and behind the plastic trim on the left-hand side of the trunk (right where the power antenna would be). I cut up some more underlay and shoved them down in there as well. Results - completely invisible sound-deadening for parcel shelf and inner trim, and matching carpet for the trunk lid for a shitload cheaper than Dynamat. It took me and friend about 1.5 hrs to do. No professional job, by any stretch, but no more rattles either.

dynomat every where. I spend about 4 hours the other day sealing doors, trunk, under the spare, the jack compartment, behind the tag. Spoiler. And the spoiler led.... unscrew it... cut thin tape of dynomat and place it in the place of the spoiler led.. then squeese the led in and screw it back. Ta daa. 1100 audiobahn system with absolute Zero vibrations. If you want i can send you a pic of what it wil look like... or should look like.

anyone Try Fatmat?
Apparently its just the same (possibly better) than dynomat, but prolly 80 bucks cheaper

Are you sure its the whole decklid? If you have a spoiler that could be part of it. On my car the damn liscense plate was goin nuts, but I fixed that with a couple strips of window weather stripping for a house window. Its like foam rubber with an adhesive back. If the whole decklid is rattling then go with dynamat behind all the trunk panels. If you have the cash a couple layers is great, and it will increase the SPL in your car since you reduce the flex in all the body panels.

i just went around my trunk looking for rattles....and then used some sticky foam sheets from walmart in the crafts section for 99cents a sheet....and cut what needed to kill it....pretty cheap and works perfect
