now i know this should belong in the "tech" section of the site but nobody ever checks that part out apparently cause i posted a thread a while back and still no replies. So here goes:I got my new set of 6x9's. Tried to put them in the car but there's this bar that runs along the top inside the trunk(actually its two bars). now these bars are connected to the trunk's lifting mechanism. Here's the bad part. the freakin magnet on the speaker is too big to fit inside the trunk w/o hitting these bars. Has anybody else had any trouble w/ these things and speakers or just me? I hate to run around town w/ just a puny set of 6 1/2's all the time...

depending on what kind you buy, 6 1/2's can be way better than 6x9's. a puny 6 1/2 component system will sound much nicer and louder than a set of 6x9's. i have pioneer 6 1/2's in back and pioneer 5 1/2 up front. kenwood head unit, rockford 451s amp and 2 kicker solobaric s12L5's and it'll rattle your teath and sounds clear as hell. i'm not tryin to bitch but bigger speaker doesnt mean better sound.

ok well that helped me out absolutely none....just kiddin'. 6th gen'ers help me out!!Surely u coupe guys know what i'm talkin about. Is there any way to get these bars outta the way of the magnet? They're made of sprung steel so the only way i'm gonna bend them w/ my puny ass is to heat em up but i'm kinda scared of getting a torch in my trunk.

Unless you plan on throwing the stock grilles back on, you could try making a stand out of a couple more rear speaker plates. I'm sure a local junk yard has a couple you could gank out of other 6th genners.

i was just tryin to say you could get a pair of 6 1/2's that may fit so you dont have to move the bar and they can sound much better too. but the 5th gens have those bars also and if you bend them the trunk may not shut correctly. so you may be able to make this easier on yourself and have your system sound better.

If the Fifth Gens have those bars in question, why doesnt mine? At least I dont think so. We are talking about stock speaker position in the rear deck, right? If so... maybe my pioneers will pop out of place now. If so, I blame it on this topic.

naw its these two bars that run along the top side of the trunk. I think they're there to keep the trunk open when you pop it from the driver's seat
