Hey my 91 accord is heating up (by the way I ate a 96 accord ex yesterday) and I'm wondering what it is. It seems that the fans are working and I have sufficient water in the radiator. I changed 2 water hoses about 1 month ago because they both ripped almost simultaneusly, does that have something to do with it?? Oh and my temperature needle only goes up when I'm at a red light and it goes down when I step on it. Do you thing it might be the sensor?? I don't hear a noise so I don't think my headers are leaking. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

It could be your thermostat. From the Haynes manual it says to do the following:
1. If the engine seem to take a long time to warm up, the thermostat is probably closed. Replace with a new one.
2. If the engine runs hot, use your hand to check the temp. of the upper radiator hose. If the hose is not hot and the engine is, the thermostat is probably stuck closed. Replace the thermostat.
My car was heating up not long ago. And it turned out to be the thermostat.
Hope this helped.

is it losing water?... um... when you check the oil is grayish or have air bubbles in it.. if it does then it is probably your head gasket but if your lucky and its your thermostat it is only like 10 bucks and a 5 minute job to change.... really really easy

Had (and still have) the same problem. MY autos teacher said it might be a blow head gasket. Forgot what the exact test is for it, but if you take it into the dealrship (or somewhere) and tell them to check for a blown head gasket.

I was told, it might be heating up because hot exhaust gaskets are getting into the coolant, which heats it up (obviously) and then kinda destroys its cooling capabilities.

Not sure though, but its a suggestion.

Try seeing if you know someone who has a coolant system pressure check, You just pump pressure into the radiator cap with the P.S.I gauge(not for Turbo's haha) and let it sit for awhile, and if it's holding pressue it would be at the same P.S.I, if not than the pressure is not sufficant, which could be your problem, just a thought....

It is in fact your thermostat. Mine did the same shit. replaced the radiator, and the water pump and the hoses, checked the fans, and there was always pletty of fluid.
