I want to paint my interior plastics and vinyl, and to get my carpeting remade. I know I'm going to be using VHT vinyl dye for all the pieces, but I still have tons of questions. If anyone could take some time and give me some help - maybe even a step-by-step list of how to get all the pieces out of the car, I'd piss my pants. Unless you didn't want me to... I just need to know how to get the vinyl and plastic components out without ruining anything by trying to go in blind like I would be now.
Couple other smaller questions - is it possible to change the roof carpeting color / how? How should I go about the rest of the carpet situation? Thanks in advance for any help. :D

well easiest way of takin it apart is to get a haynes manual and it will tell u exactly how to get everything out. it would be way to much for us to explain and way to complicated without pictures and stuff way to many pieces and screws.

okai i got a 94 accord so it shouldnt be much different to take apart.....first take out the cup holder there is 3 screws u need to get from there....then open up the compartment rite in between the two seats....at the bottom of it is like a lil door...pop it open and there should be sum screws there too...take em out and now u can get that whole middle piece off. Now u gonna see two more screws rite by the shift knob...take those off and now u can pop the whole center dash where the radio is at off. wat u need to do next is remove the small compartment on the left of the steering wheel...there should be another screw there take it off and pop off that whole entire piece from under the steering wheel....i dont remember how i did the rest but there is gonna be more screws that u gonna see follow ur intuition and it should be easy to take apart.....i know there is a screw behind the defrost button that u need to take off...the is one behind the cruise control button i think there is one behind the dash light control buttonthere is two inside and under one of the a/c knobs and the other one is rite next to it....once u get those off u can juss pop the whole top dash pieace off....is a bitch to take out but have patience...ohhh all the electrical plugs behind the dashboards have like a lil clip juss press it and pop em loose...let me know if this was of any help

I wouldn't recomend using vinyl dye. I hear alot of bad things about that stuff. Plus you'll never get the actual color of the can.

i did my interior all black even the headliner. I used the SEM vinyl and plastic dye, this is what most of the interior places recommend and I haven't experienced anything bad yet. I did my interior about 6 months ago and it still looks clean. About your plastic parts you could use the SEM dye too, but before you spray the dye, make sure you use BULLDOG plastic adhesion, this will make the dye stick to your plastic parts. As for your carpet, I bought mine at autocarpets.com i think for about $120. the carpet was easy to install and is already shaped for your car. BTW i bought the SEM dye at a local paint store for $8 a can, you'll probably need about 10 to 12 cans. this is cheaper than getting it done at a interior shop, one shop quoted me $1200 just to do the SAME thing i did to my interior, same as in using the same dye and process. I'm like damn so i asked them what kinda dye they used, and they told me SEM. lol. hope this helps.

i used the vht dye and it all came out awesome, not a single complaint....i wouldnt recommend using it on the plastics tho, it didnt stick well to it...i used krylon bbq stove grill paint...same stuff used in the diy jdm headlights....and then cleared that, and its held up perfectly in the last 9months or so......iv heard of ppl using the krylon fusion paints but supposedly u hav to leave it alone for 5days for it to completely setup and such...iv heard alot of good things about the SEM dye also...its more expenisve but supposedly works really well also...
-if u want to see pics of my interior etc...go to the link in my sig
