I have a 5th gen. 5spd. accord. I recently got my AEM undrive pulleys for $140. I went to my local auto. shop and asked for an estimate for installing them.. they said anywhere from 75-100 dollars. Droped it off at 10am and they said it would be done by that afternoon.. No call so I decide to call them at 2:20pm. They tell me that the bolt on the power steering pump needs to be chiseled off.. Im like okay.. Then I get a call back at 4 that they are at the junkyard getting a power steering pump off a 97 accord because they broke mine.. Now my bill is $160 dollars for just some dam pulleys.. i know 1994-1997 accords are all about the same engine wise.. but does anyone see a problem with this situation? I called HONDA dealer on a price for the power steering pump and it was $560 dollars.. they are not charging labor for replaced part.. but I dont think I should have to pay for it anyways...any IDEAS?

Why do U have to pay $160? U said it's only $75-$100. If they broke your parts, it's their fault. I have a feeling that those scums try to screw U up,
U shouldn't pay for somebody's fault.....

do not pay them any more than 100 for their labor. if they broke the pump they have to pay for it simple as that. i think a good tip for anybody who posts on here is that if you get a new part, or even are thinking of purchasing a new part, start a new post asking if anyone has it, what they think of it, if they installed it themselves, how long it took and any tips they may have. i have a 95 lx 5 speed and i installed my tru power pulleys myself in relatively 45 minutes. it would have been faster if 1. i had known whether the bolt on the power steering pump was reverse threaded or not because the instructions said it might be so i had to figure that out on my own and 2. it took me about 10 minutes to run to a friends to use an impact gun to remove the bolt holding my altenator pulley on. other than that it was extremely simple. the speed shops around my way are the same way and will try to dick you over for more money than you actually need to pay. so from now on to anybody who is thinking about getting anything for their car, no matter what year, start a thread and ask those few simple questions and see if you actually need a professional to help you out or not. i think we could all help each other save a few bucks in the end and a lot of time and agrivation. sorry i couldnt have helped you out earlier deftenvy.
