it is interesting, I have yet to reserve my judgement though. It is definitely a pretty major overhaul. Now I don't follow this... I thought A-R.COM was a subsidiary of ISS? Is that not true, or is ISS a part of Top End Motorsports? I'm not following somewhere along here... hopefully since there is a big corporate emblem branded on the corner, this isn't the beginning of a pay service... but time will tell.. it definitely looks cleaner and crisper I don't like the response methods though, having to choose "linear" and the other ones are crap, it should be linear oldschool, unchangeable and get rid of the thing where you have to choose WHAT to reply to. annoying. Oh well I am keeping an open mind its going to be great or its going to bomb. One thing that would be nice is if we could have a notes section... because I LIKED being able to have that little tidbit about our mods/engine codes/etc.

I think that the forum is in progress, I know on the site I used to run implementing a new version of a bb takes a while to get fully up and running... give it a week and I think it'll be kink free. I know the old bb version was NEVER complete, the admin kept tweaking it and making it better, I think we're in for the same sort of situation here :) In any event, good or bad the forum be, I would like to thank the admin for all of the hard work he's put into this site for us, I think I speak for just about everyone here when I say it is GREATLY appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Sometimes old forums are more of a pain in the ass than they are worth to keep running with an ever-increasing amount of data, and its time to get newer versions of MySQL, PHP, and the latest forum-release. Its necessary just chill I'm sure it'll be better than ever soon :).... also this gives some of us a chance to have more posts than Pattrick... right now it looks like I'm beating him by a lot! :) hehehe

yes, for a few minutes there most everything was white but each time I come back here (between classes or after trips and so on), its better and better. It is approaching the old version... but its slightly crisper looking (I assume thats a side affect of the new board). I sees, and I likes! Now we just need everyone to get their @$$e$ signed back up and back to posting...

I'm sure its only a matter of time there are a lot of weekly regulars.

Is there any way you can make the "Car Type" in user options a fill-in-the-blank? If not... options for: MT / AT
SE / EX / LX / DX
SEDAN / COUPE

... and possibly a new category, "Engine Code" ?

These were awesome on the old forum version, and really useful when we were giving each other advice cuz we had more specs right at our eyes disposal... IF not that, perhaps more catergories in the profile that (although not shown in posts) can be obtained by grabbing the profile on the person?

not sure if I agree, but I can admit that the checkerbox is annoying to the eyes if your on the site for more than a few minutes. Perhaps make the checkers smaller so that its less checkery looking and more of a gray look... or switch to a dark grey solid background? Maybe solid black with very darkly shaded accords in the background, so you can just barely make 'em out? That might look nice.

Ok, I'm working on building a seniority levels for the members. By that I mean you can get special member permissions depending on how long youve been a member, number of posts, ect.. I can limit the use of almost every function of the board from specific groups of users.

Heres what I'm thinking.. let me know if you guys have any good ideas of your own.

Level 1 -Noobie- Less than 30 posts - can not post photo or avatar.
Level 2 -Rookie- Can use photo & avatar
Level 3 - Ameature - can use larger avatar files (better ani's)
Level 4 -Proffessional- xxxxnot finishedXXX

that sounds really intriguing and has good potential.. here would be my suggestion:

0-15 Level 1 -Noobie- cannot post photo or avatar.

16-50 Level 2 -Rookie- Can use photo & avatar

51-100 Level 3 - Ameature - can use larger avatar files (better ani's)
101-999 Level 4 -Professional- warning levels (like vasponger said) where they are allowed to warn (only one time) a member, and delete posts and freeze threads from members with warnings of 100 or higher?

1000+ Level 5 -Master- freeze any thread

you can still acess the old tech room, the links fixed, yeah the feature rides was cool, but i dont know if there are anymore, you never saw those guys post on here anyways, and most of our cars arent worth it cept maybe r33accord, and wickedc32 when hes done

I don't know what your talking about its all still there, its just in an archival form instead of an active usage form now. It is kind of annoying that our counters start back at zero... but are we here because we have high post numbers, or because we love our cars? The posts will wrack up again fast enough.. Thats not the priority though (at least for me) tho it is sweet to finally have a higher number than Pattrick, who (it seems) hasn't even signed up again yet.. he must be really busy with his business again.

quick reply is simple... when you see a post you want to respond to, click on the little button that is like a document with an arrow pointing from the middle of it to the bottom of it, then you fill in quick reply at the bottom and click "post quick reply". Its to take care of the people that want to view the forum in Hybrid or Threaded modes.

I beleive that little green or silver box has to do with your reputation on the boards. You get a reputation when people click that button with the check mark next to the 'quote reply' button.

oh I thought of something else the professionals should be able to do that nobody else should: send things out in the mailings. The AR.COM newsletter should be open to submissions by professionals only, and we should play up that ability cuz it could be a really useful tool.
